AirDefense Chairman Chosen as InformationWeek Innovator and Influencer
Business Wire, Jan 25, 2005
ATLANTA -- AirDefense, the leader in anywhere, anytime wireless security, today announced that Chairman and Founder Jay Chaudhry has been selected by InformationWeek as a 2005 Innovator and Influencer. The award highlights Chaudhry's ability to start and lead companies, grabbing first-mover advantage in new markets, and cites AirDefense as the latest example of this strategy. AirDefense was founded in October 2001 and has maintained the dominant market leader position in the wireless security space, claiming 80 percent of marketshare and more than 350 enterprise-class customers.
"We are proud to have pioneered the wireless intrusion detection and prevention market segment. With a large blue-chip customer base and partners like IBM and Cisco, AirDefense has seized a clear leadership position," said Chaudhry. "As I've done with other companies, we will continually innovate to extend that lead while competitors are beginning to enter the space."
Chaudhry was praised by InformationWeek for his keen sense of innovation and knack for discovering and creating new market segments. He has founded several security-focused, industry-leading providers of critical technology, including SecureIT, the first pure-play Internet security services company to experience exponential revenue growth; CipherTrust, the provider of the industry's first security appliance for email systems and AirDefense, the thought-leader and innovator of wireless network security and operational support solutions.
Chaudhry has also been recognized by Atlanta-based Catalyst Magazine as Catalyst of the Year, and is listed among Catalyst's Top 50 Entrepreneurs and 50 Names to Know. Chaudhry has also been named Ernst & Young Southeast Entrepreneur of the Year (EOY), nominated for the national EOY Award and was an Ernst & Young Hall of Fame Inductee 2004. AirDefense Enterprise was recently named InfoWorld Technology of the Year. In addition, Red Herring magazine chose AirDefense as a 2004 Top 100 Innovator and the company is also a finalist for SC Magazine's Reader Trust Awards.
