Business Wire, Jan 31, 2005
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- INFONXX, the world's premier provider of directory assistance and enhanced information services, announced today that it has selected TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a global leader in wireless data and precise location, to enhance its local search and driving directions functionality by incorporating the location of the user and his wireless device.
Directory Assistance (DA) callers in markets served by INFONXX's carrier customers can connect with an operator to search for business listings surrounding the caller's current location, as well as receive location-based driving directions from their current location to their desired destination.
"TCS is a valuable partner in our deployment of location-driven directory assistance," said Margaret Scholl, CEO of INFONXX, North America. "Evolving location-driven directory searches towards multimedia delivery with true navigation is the goal we plan to achieve for our customers using TCS' location solution and expertise."
Today's mobile consumers demand quick and easy access to accurate information from anywhere at any time. INFONXX has responded with a range of enhanced information services, including automatic teller machines, movie listings and dining information in the caller's immediate proximity. "The services we provide to INFONXX, coupled with their high quality Directory Assistance products and services, together provide a very powerful combination," said Maurice B.
