MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Encover (TM), Inc., the leading provider of technology and services that help manufacturers maximize revenue from service contracts, today announced the appointment of John Purvis as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales. Purvis is an authority in services marketing, sales and delivery, with over 25 years of experience in the high tech sector across both hardware and software manufacturers.
Before joining Encover, Purvis was a Principal at Hahn Consulting, a premier strategic consulting firm focused on services marketing and sales. John earlier served as Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing at Oracle Corporation where he grew for Oracle Support Services a $3 billion business spanning ninety-three countries. Prior to his Oracle experience, John built the SGI North American Customer Services organization which was responsible for hardware and software field support, 7x24 remote technical support, customer education, and professional services, in addition to all related sales and marketing.
John's extensive international experience includes a posting in Singapore where he served as Managing Director first of Convergent Technologies Singapore Pte Ltd, and then of Unisys Open where he ran all direct and indirect sales of Unisys open systems, products and services across Asia. John began his career in software R&D, founding his own successful company and also teaching computer science at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Johns holds a BS in Mathematics from the University of Georgia and an MS in Computer Science from the University of South Carolina. At Encover, Purvis will be responsible for helping Encover clients grow their services revenue.
"As our portfolio of Fortune 1000 customers continues to grow, our portfolio of services is growing along with it -- for example, our sales professionals are now closing service contracts worth more than $1 million on behalf of some of our customers," said Chip Overstreet, President and CEO of Encover. "John is coming in to help shape and grow the worldwide service sales organization to meet these growing demands from our customer base, and his expertise and experience adds tremendous value to our customers' service marketing and sales efforts."
"After spending so many years on the client side, I'm excited to be able to contribute to a company that is 100% focused on helping manufacturers grow their services revenue," said Purvis. "I believe that Encover's model of combining technology with the professional sales of services is exactly what the market needs, and the momentum Encover is seeing in the market place is proof that the model is working."
