Spotfire Expands Management Team to Meet Increasing Customer Demand for Business Analytics; Increased Adoption of DecisionSite Fuels Company Growth
Business Wire, Jan 5, 2005
SOMERVILLE, Mass. -- Spotfire Inc., a market leader in interactive, visual analytics for business decision-making, today announced that increasing demand for business analytics has prompted the Company to expand its management team to support and drive global customer adoption of DecisionSite software. Spotfire has appointed Tony Colangelo vice president of North American sales and Olle Landstrom vice president of engineering for the company. In addition to these two executive hires, the Company is adding new field representatives in all regions to support 2005 sales initiatives.
"We are experiencing greater demand for our interactive, visual analytics across the enterprise - this is occurring across the board as companies attempt to speed decision-making to meet operational business challenges," said Christopher Ahlberg, CEO of Spotfire. "Companies recognize that, by better analyzing their wealth of operational and competitive data and go beyond static reporting, they can gain a significant competitive advantage."
Shifting market conditions and stiff competition require companies to get more from their data investments, driving increased demand for business analytics. To serve the expanding needs of its growing customer base, Spotfire is adding management and field resources to its global sales team. As vice president of North American sales, Tony Colangelo will drive the company's North American field organization to expand use of DecisionSite in existing accounts, while establishing DecisionSite as a business analytics solution for enterprises. Colangelo will report to David Hadfield, vice president of worldwide sales at Spotfire, and will be based out of New York. Colangelo will work closely with William Cobert, vice president of European sales, and Mike Emswiler, vice president of Asia-Pacific sales, to expand the use of DecisionSite in global accounts.
Colangelo has more than 20 years of senior sales experience in the analytics software industry. Prior to joining Spotfire, he served as senior vice president at Bristol Technologies where he led the field team in selling sales and marketing analytics solutions to the consumer packaged goods industry. Tony was also one of the early employees at Hyperion Solutions, today a $600 million business intelligence software company, where he spent 12 years growing the company's U.S. sales operations.
In addition to strengthening its sales force, Spotfire will continue to innovate its award-winning interactive, visual analysis software, DecisionSite. Reporting directly to Ahlberg, Olle Landstrom will be responsible for continually evolving DecisionSite to meet customer needs while continuing to set the standard for the analytics industry. In the role of vice president of engineering, he will manage Spotfire's engineering staff and guide long-term product plans for DecisionSite. Landstrom will be based out of Goteborg, Sweden, where Spotfire houses its engineering team.
Prior to joining Spotfire, Landstrom held a number of positions at IAR Systems AB in Sweden. Most recently, he served as CTO at IAR, where he was responsible for both external and internal strategic technical issues. During his tenure at IAR, he coordinated technology strategies between different business units, reorganized the Bluetooth business unit, and introduced a new technology infrastructure for the company.
