Business Wire, Jan 7, 2005
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Cited for its "unrivaled" unified storage architecture and its "unmatched" flexibility, scalability, and continuity in the storage industry, the Network Appliance(TM) (Nasdaq:NTAP) FAS270c was named "Best NAS Solution of the Year" in InfoWorld's 2005 Technology of the Year honors.
InfoWorld noted that the FAS200 series is capable of doing more than just NAS and is indeed a full-fledged SAN solution, but awarded the system in the NAS category to honor the history of NetApp(R) innovation in the NAS space.
The InfoWorld awards recognize significant technologies of the past year that promise to make the greatest impact on enterprise IT strategies as well as the products that best exemplify the implementation of those technologies. The InfoWorld Technology of the Year awards are not open to outside nominations; only products reviewed by InfoWorld's Test Center during the previous year are eligible. The final selections are made by InfoWorld's Test Center analysts and editors.
"After reviewing the FAS270c, a clustered configuration that offers as much as 6TB of nominal capacity over 42 drives, I can only add that its unique characteristics go hand in hand with top-notch performance, superb management software, and mission-critical dependability. The appliance should be suitable for just about any business," said Mario Apicella, columnist at InfoWorld.
