Business Wire, Jan 7, 2005
LAS VEGAS -- At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) today in Las Vegas, Electronic Arts (Nasdaq:ERTS) announced its entire PSP(TM) handheld entertainment system line up set for release when the system launches in the U.S. this March. Designed to deliver the ultimate handheld experience, EA's PSP list of launch titles includes two new EA SPORTS(TM) staples; MVP Baseball(TM) and FIFA Soccer along with four previously announced franchise greats; Need for Speed(TM) Underground Rivals, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR(R), NBA STREET: Showdown (working title) and NFL STREET 2: Unleashed.
With these new releases, players will have the ultimate EA gaming experience in the palm of their hand. With blockbuster franchises custom designed and specially tuned for a top-notch on-the-go play experience, all six games feature original game modes, head-to-head wi-fi multiplayer, unique content, party play and EA(TM) Pocket TRAX.
Inspired by hit franchises, all six games are being specifically developed and optimized for the new device by EA's Team Fusion, an elite group of 150 developers, spanning two award-winning studios (EA Canada in Vancouver, B.C. and EA Tiburon in Orlando, Fla.).
"We know from experience that it takes great games to transform a gaming device from a gadget into a phenomenon," said Warren Wall, Executive Producer and Director of EA's Team Fusion. "We're taking the best of our franchises and customizing them for the PSP -- the gameplay, graphics and sound are being fine-tuned specifically with the on-the-go gamer in mind."
To learn more about EA's PSP line-up, a web portal dedicated to this endeavor is available to gamers at www.psp.ea.com, including details on game features and insights from the development team. The site will be continually updated with new screenshots, feature lists and videos.
