GST Inc. Launches System Restore Testing Service
Business Wire, July 12, 2005
LAKE FOREST, Calif. -- GST Inc., manufacturer of a wide variety of tape backup solutions, today announced the immediate availability of their System Restore Testing Service to ascertain whether a specific set of backup tapes can produce a successful restore. For subscribers to the service, GST's Global Service Group will test their backup tapes to ensure that a restore is successfully achieved. Backup tapes are returned to the subscriber along with the restore joblog. GST provides this service to any user of IBM i5/iSeries and AS/400 tape backup systems. A wide variety of tape formats are supported.
This service came about because many organizations expressed a need to GST and its authorized partners to be able to quickly determine if accurate restores can be achieved from their backup tapes. Where production time is limited, the extensive time required to test a restore function is not often available at the site.
"The time to find out if your i5/iSeries or AS/400 backup does not work should not be in the middle of a system restore or system upgrade," said David Breisacher, CEO and chairman at GST Inc. "We received so many requests for this service after compliance regulations arrived on the scene, that we decided to provide a service to validate restores on our equipment for clients that were having trouble testing out their restore process on their own equipment to ensure compliance."
