Michigan Tech Logs-on to Ruckus; Will Offer Digital Entertainment Network to Students
Business Wire, July 12, 2005
HERNDON, Va. -- Ruckus announced today an agreement with Michigan Technological University (MTU) that will make them the official digital entertainment network on the MTU campus.
By signing with Ruckus, Michigan Tech has given all of its students the opportunity to download hundreds of thousands of songs through Ruckus' digital media offering, and interact and find friends through Ruckus' community features. On-campus and off-campus students can take advantage of all that Ruckus has to offer during the course of an entire semester for less than the price of a CD, and Ruckus can be purchased with a credit card for their convenience. Unlimited access to blockbuster movies and hit television shows for the entire semester is also available for less than the price of a DVD.

"We are very pleased with this partnership," said Jarrod Karau, Michigan Tech's Acting Director of Information Technology. "Part of our role is to educate our students on copyright issues and ethics. By offering Ruckus, we hope to encourage our students to make the right choices by offering an alternative to illegal peer-to-peer file sharing that also improves student life."
By providing LEGAL digital media, community features, and educational content, Ruckus believes that it has cemented itself as the premier college-only digital entertainment network available to campuses, and has successfully demonstrated its dedication to enhancing student life and the educational process on college campuses.
"As an alumnus of MTU, I am personally very excited to welcome Michigan Tech to the Ruckus family," said Bill Raduchel, CEO and chairman of Ruckus. "We work hard to be a complete digital entertainment and community network with features that are useful and fun for all students on campus. Through this hard work, and by listening to what the students want, we have shaped Ruckus into a forum for students to interact, download legal music and movies, and even share their own creative work and ideas."
