Dell, Sheryl Crow Band Together for Home Entertainment; Company to Debut Campaign for Dell Media Center PCs, Digital TVs
Business Wire, July 12, 2005
ROUND ROCK, Texas -- Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) and Grammy(R)-award winner Sheryl Crow are teaming to demonstrate how home technology -- such as Dell Media Center PCs and 42-inch plasma TVs -- can strum up delight for everyone. And, for a limited time through Dell, music fans can access a clip from Ms. Crow's new single, "Good is Good," before its planned August release at www.dell.com/sheryl.
> Ms. Crow will headline select Dell television commercials nationwide which are expected to begin in mid-July, touting how consumers can tap into the power of technologies such as Dell's Media Center PCs and plasma TVs for home entertainment. A print and online campaign, including direct-mail catalogs and newspaper inserts among other vehicles, is planned for later in July.Consumers want to easily manage their digital content for entertainment, yet they face a dizzying array of technologies, products and complexity in the home. In conjunction with Intel Corp. and Microsoft Corp., Dell is addressing these issues by introducing new Media Center PC bundles that unify playing music, viewing photos and watching videos through an intuitive interface. For a limited time starting on July 14, U.S. consumers can get Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Media Center Edition 2005 software, an Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor with Hyper-Threading, and a TV tuner installed on a Dimension(TM) 5100 desktop computer for $849. Customers can also enjoy digital entertainment on Dell 42-inch plasma TVs starting at $2899, whether directly or remotely connected to a Dell Media Center PC(a). (Plasma TVs are not sold in Alaska or Hawaii.)
"Sheryl Crow is passionate about her music the same way Dell is passionate about helping customers get more out of technology in their lives," said Michael Farello, vice president, Electronics and Accessories, Dell. "Partnering with Sheryl will help us create additional awareness with consumers so they can easily enjoy digital music, photos, videos and games with Dell's portfolio of entertainment products."
"Technology's helped me with the writing and recording processes, and it's a great way to reach out to fans of my music," Sheryl Crow said. "Dell's combining all these different technologies and making it really easy to enjoy them. I can't think of a better partner for connecting fans, music and home entertainment than Dell."
In addition to Media Center PCs and digital TVs, Dell's home entertainment offerings include photo printers and Digital Jukebox music players. Dell products can enable customers to listen to digital music, view or print photos, record and view TV programming, watch or edit videos, or play games.
