PrismTech's Spectra OE Changes the Rules for Software Communications Architecture Developers; Single Vendor Pre-Integrated COTS OE Eliminates Developer Integration Headaches
Business Wire, July 13, 2005
WASHINGTON -- Today at the OMG(TM)'s Real-time and Embedded Systems Workshop, PrismTech a leading provider of productivity tools and middleware, announced that its Spectra OE (Operating Environment) will change the rules for Software Communications Architecture (SCA) developers by eliminating their integration problems.
Currently SCA developers face major problems integrating numerous Real-time operating systems (RTOS), Portable Operating System Interfaces (POSIX), object request brokers (ORB), core frameworks (CF) and high performance transports from different vendors.
Spectra OE has been designed to address these integration problems.
Spectra OE is a portable, highly-optimized, SCA-compliant software platform. It provides a complete operating environment, incorporating operating system(1), middleware and core framework functionality and the application interfaces (e.g. POSIX API) required to 'host' waveforms and other SDR applications. Spectra OE is also hardware independent, being portable to any mix of GPP, DSP and FPGA processor technologies.
Spectra OE's vertically integrated design, standards-compliance and hardware portability combine to disconnect the software and hardware lifecycles, thus enabling reuse and extending the life of waveforms, applications and radio platforms.
As a pre-integrated software platform, Spectra OE also greatly reduces the complexity of the run-time environment for the developer, providing a single API rather than three or more product APIs; thus eliminating many of the associated compatibility, robustness, and evolution issues.
"Our Spectra OE developers have many years experience in SDR development so they fully appreciate the integration problems traditionally facing SCA implementors," said Steve Jennis, SVP Corporate Development, PrismTech. "This in depth understanding has helped them to develop a fully integrated product suite which increases productivity, reduces complexity, shortens time-to-market, raises quality and ensures standards compliance."
