AT&T Natural Voices for Apple Mac OS v.10.4 Tiger Now Available from Wizzard Software
Business Wire, July 13, 2005
PITTSBURGH -- Wizzard Software (OTCBB:WIZD) announced today that AT&T Natural Voices for Apple Mac OS v.10.3 Panther and v.10.4 Tiger is now available for purchase in English, French, German and Spanish. Wizzard's offering for Mac OS X is being offered to application developers so that they may seamlessly incorporate Text-To-Speech into a variety of Mac applications. Text-To Speech is beneficial in a number of vertical markets including accessibility, business automation, security systems and education.
Named "Technology of the Year" in 2002 by Frost & Sullivan, a global leader in international consulting and training on emerging high technology and industrial markets, AT&T's Natural Voices product line is widely considered to be one of the most human-sounding speech synthesis systems in the world. AT&T Natural Voices offers "plug-and-play" language support and doesn't require different engines for each language. The AT&T technology also provides exceptionally high channel density.
"We are excited to be able to provide Apple developers with a product that has recently become very popular with Windows(R) and Linux developers," said Danielle Lewis, Marketing Director for Wizzard Software. "This TTS technology is conservatively priced and very valuable to many application categories including accessibility, interactive telephone systems, alert systems and other markets where a natural sounding speech engine is a necessity. We are pleased to invite Windows, Linux and especially Apple developers to visit our newly designed website at www.wizzardsoftware.com where they can review technical information and purchase this and other state-of-the-art speech technologies."
According to a statement released earlier this year, Apple Computer (NASDAQ:AAPL) reported their 2005 first quarterly revenue and net income as the highest in the history of their company, with 74% revenue growth. Apple shipped 1,046,000 Macintosh(R) units during this quarter, representing a 26% increase in CPU units over the year-ago quarter. According to US News and World Report, Macintosh owners buy 30% more software than their Windows counterparts. Further, Macintosh software comprises over 18% of all software sold according to the Software and Information Industry Association. In addition, the Software Publishers Association (SPA) estimates that 16 percent of computer users are on Macs.
