Right Prescription for Bank One Customers in Arizona; 220 Walgreens ATMs Expand Free Network to 607 in State; Will Be Rebranded to Chase by Year End

Business Wire, July 19, 2005

PHOENIX -- Bank One, Arizona's largest financial institution, announced today that it will put a Bank One ATM in every available Walgreens drug store in the state. The 220 ATMs will increase the free network for Bank customers by 75 percent to 607 in Arizona, and will give Bank One customers the most free ATM locations in the state.

Bank One will begin installing the machines next month and plans to reach 220 stores by year-end. At that point, they will be converted to the Chase brand along with the 200 branches in Arizona.

"By adding every location of Arizona's leading drugstore, we have 220 more ways Bank One customers receive Maximum Strength checking," said Joe Gionta, Western Region executive for Bank One, part of JPMorgan Chase & Co. "Our customers will enjoy the most convenient networks in both Phoenix and Tucson."

Currently Bank One has 387 ATMs, including 86 in high-traffic areas like Bank One Ballpark, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and QuikTrip convenience stores. At that point, Bank One will have the most ATMs in the two largest metro areas as follows:

--Phoenix, 331 ATMs

--Tucson, 86 ATMs

In the last year, Bank One has added 18 new branches in Arizona, and plans an additional 30 in the next two years. More personal bankers and upgraded online banking capabilities complement the expanded branch and ATM network.

"We are pleased to provide another convenience to our customers by hosting over 35% of the Bank One ATMs in Arizona," said Rick Hans, Walgreens director of finance. In Chicago, Bank One has a similar relationship with Walgreens, with ATMs in more than 385 stores.

Late this year, Bank One branches and ATMs will be renamed Chase, the result of a 2004 merger with JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM), a leading global financial services firm with assets of $1.2 trillion and operations in more than 50 countries. The firm is a leader in investment banking, financial services for consumers and businesses, financial transaction processing, asset and wealth management, and private equity. Under the JPMorgan, Chase and Bank One brands, the firm serves millions of consumers in the United States and many of the world's most prominent corporate, institutional and government clients. Walgreen Co. is the nation's largest drugstore chain with fiscal 2004 sales of $37.5 billion. The company operates 4,834 stores in 45 states and Puerto Rico, and plans to open about 450 new stores nationwide in fiscal 2005. Walgreens also provides additional services to pharmacy patients and prescription drug plans through Walgreens Health Initiatives (a pharmacy benefits manager), Walgreens Mail Service, Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy and Walgreens Home Care.
