Business Wire, July 26, 2005
CARROLLTON, Texas -- GVI Security Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB: GVIS), a provider of integrated Homeland Security Enterprise solutions for government agencies and the private sector, announced that Asa Hutchinson and John Gutfreund have joined the Company's Board of Directors.
Asa Hutchinson is the former Under Secretary for Border and Transportation Security at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As one of the nation's top-ranking homeland security officials after Secretary Tom Ridge, he was responsible for more than 110,000 federal employees housed in such agencies as the Transportation Security Administration, Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. Prior to his work with the DHS, he was elected three times to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served on the Judiciary and Intelligence committees, before leading the Drug Enforcement Administration. He began his career by practicing law in Arkansas, where he tried over 100 jury trials over 21 years.
"I look forward to serving on GVI's Board of Directors. Given the heightened-threat environment that we exist in today, GVI's integrated, best-of-breed approach to homeland security solutions answers a very pressing need on the part of both the government and the private sectors," Mr. Hutchinson said of his appointment.
John Gutfreund has vast experience in the financial markets and managing Wall Street firms, including over 38 years with Salomon Brothers, most recently serving as the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. He is currently a director of a number of private organizations and publicly traded companies including LCA-Vision Inc. (NasdaqNMS: LCAV) and Nutrition 21 Inc. (NasdaqSC: NXXI).
Howard Safir, Chairman of the Board of GVI Security Solutions, Inc., commented, "We are honored to have directors of this stature join GVI's Board.
