Symantec Intruder Alert Supports HP-UX 11i on Intel® Itanium® 2 Processor-Based HP Integrity Servers; Intrusion Prevention Software Designed for 64-bit Intel Itanium 2 Processor-Based Servers

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq:SYMC) today announced the availability of Symantec Intruder Alert for the HP-UX 11i v2 operating system for HP Integrity servers based on the Intel(R) Itanium(R) 2 processor. Symantec's host-based intrusion detection solution is a market leading intrusion prevention software that is specifically designed for the 64-bit architecture of the Intel Itanium 2 processor, which provides substantial performance improvements to customers that run memory-intensive applications.
This new global solution enhances the ability of customers using HP Integrity servers running HP-UX 11i v2 to detect unauthorized access and take real-time action to prevent potentially damaging intrusions.

As a complement to firewalls and other access controls, Intruder Alert enables the development of precautionary security policies designed to prevent expert hackers or authorized users with malicious intent from misusing systems, applications, and data.
