Business Wire, July 7, 2005

DULLES, Va. -- Fantasy Football with Free Live Scoring and Scouting Reports; AOL(R) Fantasy Football Also Offers Free Draft Kits, Special Weekly Features, Expert Analysis

Ready for some fantasy football - for free? America Online today announced that it will make its fantasy football offering - including live scoring, draft kits and scouting reports - free to anyone with an Internet connection through the AOL.com site.

In addition, AOL announced several prizes for AOL Fantasy Football players. These include the chance to win a trip to Las Vegas where AOL will throw the winner a draft party at the Palms Casino Resort as well as $15,000 in spending money for those who sign up for the League Manager game. Up to 20 winning league members will also stay at The Palms. Fans just need to set up their fantasy football League Manager game through the AOL.com site by August 7, 2005. Other prizes include 20 additional league winners who will each receive cash prizes of $500 to throw their own "hometown draft party."

"Fantasy sports leagues - from MLB Baseball to NBA Basketball to Auto Racing - remain some of the most popular programming areas on AOL Sports today - and their consistent growth is an important programming goal for the long term success of the AOL.com site," said Carlos Silva, SVP of AOL(R) News & Sports.

Studies have indicated that football is the number one fantasy sport for consumers.(1)

"AOL Fantasy Football engages that growing market of consumers interested in a premier fantasy football experience -- all for free, including the convenience of live scoring and scouting reports coupled with a great selection of prizes that distinguishes our fantasy games from any other offering in the marketplace," added Silva.

AOL is supporting its Fantasy Football offering with a radio ad campaign, primarily on Infinity Radio Stations in major markets across the United States, including prominent football markets like New York City, Chicago, Dallas, Denver and Atlanta. AOL will also invest in a series of online advertising initiatives to promote registration.

"Fantasy sports have gone beyond simple stats and tracking players to a complete experience, and we are engaging fantasy players with much more than just free fantasy football content," said Ross Schaufelberger, AOL Sports. "Giving fans a chance to go to the Super Bowl or become our football beat reporter is a great step in this effort."

AOL Fantasy Football Offerings

For the upcoming season, AOL Sports will offer four free Fantasy Football games:

* Draft-to-Play Fantasy Football - lets fans participate in a real-time, online draft to select their players before the start of the season, and manage their team throughout the year. Players can join public or private leagues, get live scoring, make unlimited trades and free agent acquisitions, and more.

* Bid-to-Play Fantasy Football - lets players ditch the draft and experience the frenzied excitement of an online auction...fantasy style. Fans are given a salary cap from which they must bid on players to make up their initial teams.

* Fantasy Football League Manager - fully customizable league management software that features quick league set up, making it easy for fans to form a league with friends and family.

* Pro Football Pick-em - lets fans chose which teams will win each week through the playoffs and Super Bowl.

* Members have to pick one NFL winner every week without picking the same team twice in the season. The last player remaining that has not lost a pick for the season wins.
