UPDATE: LADWP Lifts Boil Water Advisory for Laurel Canyon and Mt. Olympus Areas
Business Wire, July 9, 2005
LOS ANGELES -- As of noon today, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and the California Department of Health Services (CDHS) have lifted the boil water advisory in effect for customers in the Laurel Canyon and Mt. Olympus areas. LADWP customers in the area bounded South of Mulholland Drive and Woodrow Wilson Drive; West of Pacific View Drive and Runyon Canyon Park; North of Grandview Drive; and East of Wonderland Drive and Doheny Drive are no longer required to boil their tap water.
LADWP and CDHS have carefully evaluated the area's water supply and determined the water has received reliable disinfection treatment since the water outage and is safe to drink.
The evaluation was based on water quality testing and monitoring of the bacterial quality and level of disinfection in the system. The boil water advisory was issued as a precautionary measure because of the potential for contamination due to the loss of water pressure in the affected area as a result of a water main break that occurred July 6 in the 3000 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard.
For more information, customers may log on to the LADWP website at www.ladwp.com or call LADWP at 1 (800) DIAL-DWP, or contact the California Department of Health Services at (213) 580-5723.
