Number of Largest U.S. Staffing Firms Increase by 12%; 98 Companies Net $100 Million or More, According to Staffing Industry Analysts

Business Wire,  June 1, 2005

LOS ALTOS, Calif. -- In a signal that the fortunes of many of the country's personnel service providers have turned for the better, 98 public and private U.S. staffing companies, a 12% increase, had revenues of $100 million or more last year, according to Staffing Industry Analysts, Inc., which released its annual report in the May 27, 2005 issue of its newsletter, Staffing Industry Report. Together these companies did more than $98 billion worth of business worldwide.

The five largest U.S. staffing companies all showed strong growth, and their order did not change. Adecco SA (NYSE:ADO) was number one followed by Manpower Inc. (NYSE:MAN), Vedior NV, Randstad Holding NV and Kelly Services, Inc. (Nasdaq:KELYA).

"The fact that more than half the companies on the list are private demonstrates the breadth and depth of the industry," said Barry A. Asin, Chief Industry Analyst for Staffing Industry Analysts. "These large national and regional staffing firms compete effectively with the giant multinationals at the top of the list."

Staffing Industry Analysts' annual list of companies with $100 million or more in staffing revenue is unique -- no other list combines both public and private companies. At least 30% of these companies' business must be staffing-related, and in the case of foreign-headquartered companies, at least $100 million must be U.S.-based business.
