Quest Software Releases First Application Performance Monitoring Solution Powered by MySQL; Quest Foglight's Embedded MySQL Database Boosts Flexibility, Scalability and Robustness
Business Wire, June 14, 2005
IRVINE, Calif. -- Quest Software Inc. (Nasdaq:QSFT), a leading provider of application, database and Windows management solutions, today announced that the new version of Quest Foglight(R) is the first end-to-end performance monitoring product for enterprise applications to feature an embedded MySQL(R) database engine. By incorporating MySQL, Foglight now has greater scalability and enhanced reporting and analysis features, which result in greater productivity for application administrators.
"We have been working closely with Quest Software on their initiatives to integrate MySQL into their solutions - and we appreciate their dedication to the promotion of open systems," said Zack Urlocker, vice president of marketing for MySQL AB. "Now, organizations will benefit from the capabilities of MySQL as an embedded component in Quest Foglight for its end-to-end application monitoring."
As companies begin to adopt open system standards to lower the total cost of their IT infrastructure, MySQL has become a proven and reliable database alternative. Administrators, business owners and IT managers alike will benefit from Foglight because it combines comprehensive, user-friendly monitoring features with adherence to open systems standards, which is key to a solid performance management strategy. Foglight includes functionality such as:
--ServiceGroups - to actively monitor a grouping of application stack activities or services to help manage and understand end-user activities for performance, availability and Service Level Management;
--SLATrack - to establish historical, realistic and manageable Service Level Agreements at an application, geographical and enterprise level, resulting in more optimal end-user response time;
--ProactiveAlert - to provide pre-configured alerts based on security, response times, and errors of the application, which reduces the time it takes to find and fix a problem and results in a complete picture of performance.
"The newest version of Foglight underscores Quest's commitment to embracing open systems standards such as MySQL," said Larry Humphries, vice president, application management solutions, Quest Software. "The use of MySQL supports our objective to provide customers with the ability to proactively manage their applications, while minimizing the total cost of application ownership."
Quest Software was recently named MySQL Partner of the Year and is also a MySQL Platinum Partner and a charter member of the MySQL Network Certified Partner Program.
