BlueCat Networks Debuts Adonis 250 Caching Appliance at Infosecurity Canada Conference and Exhibition 2005

Business Wire, June 15, 2005

TORONTO -- New Appliance Provides Affordable Caching Functionality Out of the Box

Infosecurity Canada Conference and Exhibition 2005 (Booth # 618)-BlueCat Networks, Inc. today announced the addition of the new Adonis 250 DNS Caching Appliance to its line-up of simple, secure, and affordable networking appliances. DNS caching speeds up the location of Internet addresses, and relieves the load on a company's main DNS appliance. The Adonis 250 is a dedicated DNS caching appliance that can be set up quickly and easily to deliver DNS resolution.

Like the Adonis 1000 DNS/DHCP Appliance and the Adonis 500 DHCP Appliance, the Adonis 250 features a hardened Linux-based operating system, providing one of the most secure appliance platforms available. The appliance features secure managed updates and a cross-platform graphical interface to simplify administration.

BlueCat Networks' president and CEO, Michael Hyatt comments, "With the number of high-profile DNS Cache Poisoning attacks in recent months, the idea that you can buy a caching solution that works securely out of the box has become an increasingly attractive business proposition."

Experts in the field of DNS insist that security requires Authoritative and Caching DNS services to be on separate servers in different parts of the network. With the Adonis 250, BlueCat Networks brings the power of Adonis to the caching appliance market with secure, cost-saving efficiencies. Both new customers and those that have come to appreciate the power and simplicity in the Adonis line of appliances will be able to leverage the appealing price point of the Adonis 250 to create secure and stable DNS architectures.

DNS caching servers need to be secure and fast, as they generally resolve addresses outside of an organization for internal users. The Adonis 250 is able to operate securely, out of the box, at the edge of corporate networks where security concerns are highest. Due to its tight security design and ease-of-use, IT managers can use Adonis to begin processing queries with little configuration. This scenario enables a company to speed up internal requests for external data while maintaining standards and security. Starting at $1,995 USD, the new Adonis 250 DNS Caching Appliance will be available in July 2005.
