Fusion Assures Security and Performance of VoIP Solutions With Juniper Networks; VF-series Session Border Controllers Deliver NAT Traversal and Security Features
Business Wire, June 15, 2005
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:JNPR) today announced that Japanese service provider Fusion Communications Corporation has deployed Juniper Networks VF-series Session Border Controllers to deliver Voice over IP (VoIP) services over broadband DSL with assured levels of quality, security and performance. Fusion initiated Japan's first large-scale IP telephony service and continues to be a leader in VoIP with over 2.4 million subscribers.
"VoIP quality has improved tremendously in recent years to the point where it is virtually indistinguishable from conventional toll calls, but consumer expectations and demand continue to rise," said Opher Kahane, vice president of Voice Technologies, Juniper Networks. "The Juniper Networks VF-series enabled Fusion to meet its objective of providing toll-grade VoIP service to its customer base."
Fusion is using the VF-series Session Border Controllers to provide NAT (network address translation) traversal for its residential VoIP service. The VF-series' NAT traversal capabilities enable Fusion to deliver VoIP services seamlessly, without changing its existing IP infrastructure, VoIP end-devices or NAT/firewall premise equipment.
The VF-series is the leading solution for hosted NAT traversal, hosted VPN/VLAN and network protection for hosted IP telephony services such as IP Centrex and managed IP PBX. Because the VF-series requires no changes to existing softswitch configurations, Fusion was able to rapidly and simply upgrade its infrastructure with minimal effort. With over 100 worldwide customer deployments, the Juniper Networks award-winning VF-series is the most powerful and scalable family of carrier-grade session border controllers available.
"Fusion is an innovative and leading VoIP provider in Japan, and we're pleased to be working with them to expand and scale their services," concluded Kahane. "By using our VF-series for VoIP service delivery, Fusion was able to improve the scale and security of their VoIP services with a transparent addition to their network infrastructure."
