SilverStorm Technologies Announces InfiniBand Networking Support for Mac OS X; Latest QuickSilver Software Release Delivers Data Center and High Performance Computing Solutions to Apple Marketplace
Business Wire, June 15, 2005
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. -- SilverStorm Technologies (formerly InfiniCon Systems), the leader in cluster networking for high performance business computing, announced today the availability of Mac OS X support in its award-winning suite of QuickSilver(TM) software and InfiniBand switching solutions. In partnership with Small Tree Communications, a leading provider of high performance networking products for Mac OS, SilverStorm has developed the most robust InfiniBand based set of networking capabilities available for Mac OS X environments.
SilverStorm's portfolio of high performance switching solutions provides users a 10 Gb/sec, low latency, multi-protocol interconnect fabric that supports both cluster inter-process communication and shared storage and networking I/O access. Cluster performance is significantly improved and the data center is dramatically simplified.
"SilverStorm's products provide the most robust, highest performing InfiniBand networking solutions on the market, which is why Small Tree partnered with them to bring the benefits of InfiniBand to the Mac platform," stated Corky Seeber, president of Small Tree Communications. "By introducing the ability to install a one wire data center, SilverStorm has effectively lowered the total cost of cluster network ownership, eliminating the cost and complexity of managing separate networks for computing and storage in addition to achieving higher server utilization."
"SilverStorm is committed to making its end-to-end InfiniBand networking solutions available on all clustering platforms for high performance and enterprise computing," said Russ Hawkins, CEO of SilverStorm Technologies. "The Apple Xserve platform in combination with our award-winning Mac OS X software and InfiniBand switching solutions are enabling some of our biggest customers to develop extremely efficient high performance clusters."
The new Mac OS X version of SilverStorm's InfiniBand product suite is enabling Apple users to harness the full potential of the superior Xserve platform to satisfy the requirements of their most demanding high performance computing (HPC) and enterprise data center applications.
