Star Choice Expands Product Offerings from AOL Canada to Better Serve Customers

Business Wire, June 15, 2005

CALGARY, Alberta -- Products include national VoIP service, accelerated Internet service and new security and parental control features.

Star Choice Communications Inc., a division of Shaw Communications Inc. (TSX:SJR.NV.B) (NYSE:SJR), announced today the introduction of three new products to enhance its customers' access to Internet based communications services. Effective immediately, Star Choice customers across Canada will be able to purchase at special prices Netscape(R) Nitro(TM), AOL(R) Max and AOL(R) TotalTalk(TM).

Star Choice customers can now have a faster Internet experience without having to change Internet service providers. Netscape Nitro web accelerator software can be added to any dial-up or high-speed 'lite' service. Nitro is available for $4.95 per month and provides speeds up to 7x faster than regular dial-up, and up to 2x faster than high-speed 'lite' services. For Star Choice customers this is a very affordable way to enhance their Internet experience and complements the recent launch of Netscape Accelerated Internet service.

Star Choice is also making it safer and more convenient for their customers to access the Internet with AOL Max Internet software. This software provides a "fully loaded" high-speed experience offering more content and features including AOL Canada's KOL(TM) (Kids Online) service, which was designed as an educational and interactive web experience for children ages 7 - 12. AOL Max also includes added security features such as anti-spyware tools, pop-up and spam controls, as well as Parental Controls, which support Star Choice's commitment to safeguarding families against inappropriate content.

The third new product offering is AOL's Voice over IP (VoIP) phone service called AOL TotalTalk. Available across Canada to Star Choice customers with any high-speed Internet connection, AOL TotalTalk provides consumers with more control and enhanced features at significantly better value compared to traditional telephone services.

"We are very excited about the opportunity to provide our Star Choice customers with a variety of new Internet-based communication services at an affordable price," said Jim Cummins, V.P., National Operations for Star Choice Communications Inc., "Our customers will find these services easy to use, fast, convenient and affordable."

"AOL has a long history in helping consumers feel comfortable with new technologies," said Craig Wallace, President and CEO, AOL Canada Inc. "This extension of our existing relationship with Star Choice and their customers is a significant step forward in AOL Canada's goal of offering enhanced Internet-based services to all Canadians."

AOL TotalTalk(TM) features two plans to choose from. The Optimum plan is priced at $19.95/month for the first three months and is $29.95/month thereafter. The Optimum Plus plan is $29.95/month for the first three months, and $39.95/month thereafter. Both full-featured plans include a number of North America anytime long distance minutes and free member-to-member calling bundled to suit anyone's calling needs.
