ATG Announces Certified Support for JBoss Open Source Application Server; Move Increases Customer Platform Alternatives While Lowering Total Cost of Ownership

Business Wire, June 15, 2005

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- ATG (Art Technology Group, NASDAQ: ARTG), the software provider behind the most consistent and relevant marketing, commerce, and customer service experiences, today announced that the company's Customer Experience Platform product suite is now certified on the JBoss Application Server from JBoss, Inc. Support for the JBoss J2EE application server is available both to customers looking to build commerce, self-service, and assisted service applications on the open source platform, as well those who wish to migrate their ATG applications from an existing application server platform.

"This is a natural extension of our multiple application server support strategy," said Ken Volpe, senior vice president of products, ATG. "With existing support for ATG Dynamo Application Server, IBM WebSphere and BEA WebLogic, the addition of our support of the acknowledged leader in open source application server technology extends the market opportunity for our applications that much more."

"The ability to run ATG marketing, commerce, and service applications atop JBoss will help reduce the costs our customers face in developing, integrating and deploying ATG applications," continued Volpe.

The decision to certify and support JBoss Application Server is the latest milestone in ATG's ongoing commitment to provide one of the industry's most adaptable, platform-independent applications for marketing, commerce, and service, designed to fit into any existing IT architecture. To ensure that ATG's solutions are integrated with JBoss in the most optimal way, ATG has joined the recently announced JBoss Certified Solution Partner Program. This gives ATG direct access to JBoss resources as a means to mitigate risk in projects undertaken by customers.

ATG continues to demonstrate strong technical leadership in supporting critical enterprise computing technology as evidenced by the company's early commitment to enterprise Java technology, and the move two years ago to certify Linux as a supported platform. While ATG also supports JBoss on Windows operating systems, companies may choose to run the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system along with JBoss to tap into the power of ATG's best-of-breed applications while lowering their total cost of ownership through the operation of those open source technologies on the back-end.

"In the last couple of years, JBoss has seen mass adoption of the JBoss Application Server as a platform for mission-critical business applications. We're pleased that ATG has certified its core application on JBoss to leverage its underlying J2EE infrastructure to deliver scalable and flexible customer experience applications," said Tom Cooper, vice president of worldwide channels, JBoss, Inc. "This relationship will give our joint customers great flexibility and value when making infrastructure architecture decisions."
