Action Duplication Triples Capacity for DVD Manufacturing; Addition of New Molding Line Provides New Standards for Turnaround Time and Customer Service
Business Wire, June 15, 2005
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. -- Action Duplication, Inc., the region's largest replicator and manufacturer of DVD, CD and VHS cassettes today announced the addition of new high speed M2 DVD molding line to increase the facility's output to 36,000 DVD-5 or DVD-9 discs per day. The equipment and plant upgrade cost $1.5 million.
Joel Levitt, president of Action Duplication stated, "The company has expanded its capacity to meet the requirements of our clients." Levitt went on to comment, "Action Duplication provides a very high level of service and we specialize in tight turnarounds, so the new line makes us competitively superior."
The added capacity came in handy when the U.S. Department of Labor needed to replicate "Up From Zero," a commemorative DVD honoring the rescue workers who excavated and rebuilt Ground Zero after the 9/11 disaster. "The Department of Labor project was planned a year out - and there was a huge demand that far surpassed what they'd thought they'd be needing," says Rona Fitzgerald, who heads up the Action Duplication facility in Maryland.
"Up From Zero" was distributed via the Department of Labor Website -- and as word about the availability of the free title spread over the Internet, orders for the DVD far exceeded initial expectations. More than 200,000 copies of the title were replicated in a series of orders and re-orders before the program was ended.
"What our customers are most impressed with is that fact that we're extremely sensitive to their needs, whether they're doing 10 copies or 10,000 copies," says Fitzgerald. "It's not unusual for us to get things at the last minute, or deal with last-minute changes."
"Most of our referrals come from customers who find themselves in a predicament because they couldn't get the turnaround time needed for their orders -- until they came to Action Duplication. We specialize in those types of orders," she says.
