Agilent Technologies Announces Industry's Most Comprehensive Test and Optimization Solution for Wireless Video Streaming Services; Platform Offers Service Providers View of RF Performance, Subscriber Experience Across All Wireless Technologies
Business Wire, June 16, 2005
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) today announced the industry's most comprehensive test and optimization solution to verify the quality of service (QoS) for wireless video streaming. The company's Network Optimization Platform supports voice, data and video telephony and now helps radio frequency (RF) engineers test, troubleshoot and optimize video streaming services. This end-to-end network testing solution correlates RF measurements and subscribers' service experience to reduce troubleshooting and problem-resolution time, producing a higher-performing network and better QoS.
Agilent's automated data service tests ensure high QoS for all major wireless services, including video streaming, video telephony, website browsing, e-mail, multimedia message service (MMS), short message service (SMS), and FTP data transfers. The solution is technology-independent, monitoring all wireless networks such as UMTS, CDMA 2000, EDGE, WLAN and HSDPA.
Agilent's Network Optimization Platform is a comprehensive drive-test solution that measures network connection time, packet loss, buffer time, stream set-up time, jitter, bit rate measurements and other key video streaming performance indicators, giving RF engineers insight into their network's air interface performance.
"As wireless services evolve and become more complex, RF performance and coverage can become limiting factors," said Tom Walls, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Telecommunications Systems Division. "For example, with video streaming, lost packets are not re-sent as they are for voice and data services -- so carriers need optimal cellular coverage to ensure subscriber satisfaction. The Agilent drive-test solution's support for video streaming ensures high-quality services throughout geographic locations."
