ASTAR Air Cargo Enhances Its Vision Statement
Business Wire, June 17, 2005
MIAMI -- In an effort to help its employees focus better on reaching their greatest potential possible, ASTAR Air Cargo has announced an enhancement in its corporate vision statement.
ASTAR engages an employee task force to evaluate the results of employee opinion surveys. The task force empowers employees to develop solutions to any issues and concerns expressed through the surveys or through interaction with other employees. The task force represents the employee base and provides recommendations to the ASTAR Executive Team in the quest for optimum employee satisfaction and morale. As a result of this task force, employees expressed a desire for a more action-oriented vision statement that employees could rally behind in their daily efforts.
"The employee task force and executive management have worked closely to make improvements, such as updating the vision that guides ASTAR," said Ray Lutz, Senior VP and Chief Administration Officer. "We pride ourselves on listening to and responding to employee concerns and suggestions."
The original vision statement, "ASTAR -- We are about being the best," while fitting for a new company attempting to grow and prosper, was judged to be lacking in the depth needed for the company's aggressive direction.
"The new vision reveals our commitment to our employees and customers, which allows for continuous improvement" said Lutz. "It is more goal-oriented and shows what ASTAR strives to be."
The new vision statement, as well as ASTAR's mission and values statements:
VISION: ASTAR Air Cargo aspires to reach the highest possible level of customer and employee satisfaction through an uncompromising commitment to safety, reliability, and efficiency.
MISSION: ASTAR earns customer preference and employee trust through leadership, communication, and service. We invest our profits in people, services, and growth.
VALUES:
Safety and security first in all services we provide to our customers and to each other.
Honesty and integrity in all we say and do.
Respect for customers, each other, and property.
Resourcefulness and innovation in all we do.
Commitment to profitability to reinvest in people, services, and growth.
"We look forward for all that is to come for the future of ASTAR," said Lutz. "Our employees are what make ASTAR a strong and dedicated company that customers have come to rely on."
