Siemens Addresses Clinical Needs of Today and Tomorrow at SNM 2005; Company to Unveil Enhanced Portfolio for First Time Since CTI Acquisition

Business Wire, June 19, 2005

TORONTO -- For the first time, the combined Siemens and CTI Molecular Imaging, Inc., portfolio will be presented at the 2005 Society of Nuclear Medicine Scientific Sessions (SNM), held June 18-22 in Toronto, highlighting the breadth and depth of solutions now available from one source. Visitors to the Siemens booth (#s 419 and 439) will be invited to experience the possibilities in molecular imaging with Siemens' new Molecular Imaging division. Focused on the future, the division is committed to developing innovative new technologies and services that can change the way disease is diagnosed and treated.

"As molecular imaging technology develops, we are seeing a movement toward researching the cause of a disease, rather than managing the resulting conditions," explained Michael Reitermann, president, Molecular Imaging division, Siemens Medical Solutions. "Enhanced capabilities will help us develop and leverage technologies that enable a tailored approach for improved clinical and financial outcomes."

Addressing the broad demands of healthcare, Siemens' molecular imaging activities will focus on preclinical, clinical, and biomarker solutions that will positively affect each aspect of the continuum of patient care. This includes the development, manufacture, and distribution of molecular biomarkers, preclinical imaging products for research, and advanced software solutions specifically designed for all aspects of molecular imaging.

In addition to featuring enhancements to the award-winning c.cam, cardiac gamma camera, and rolling out a new SPECT offering, other technologies that Siemens will showcase at SNM 2005 include:

--Symbia(R) TruePoint(TM) SPECT-CT, which combines the functional sensitivity of SPECT with the anatomical detail of diagnostic multislice CT

--the biograph(TM) PET/CT family with unmatched HI-REZ technology

--the e.cam(R) SPECT camera, which has improved both clinical performance and the patient experience for thousands

--preclinical solutions, such as microPET(R) and microCAT(R), that allow researchers to gain more information about therapeutic compounds at each stage of development

--biomarker technology, such as the ECLIPSE(TM) family of cyclotrons and Explora radiochemistry synthesis products for developing and producing tracers that help characterize, quantify, and visualize the biology of disease

--IT solutions, such as e.soft@LEONARDO workstations with advanced applications, such as Scenium for automated quantitative brain analysis
