Patriot Receives California Air Resources Board Approval; CARB Awards Green Stickers to Yamoto by Patriot for Five ATV's and Six Dirt Bikes
Business Wire, June 2, 2005
SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. -- Patriot Motorcycle Corporation (Pink Sheets: PMCY) today announced the Yamoto by Patriot(TM) line of ATV's and Dirt Bikes has been awarded Green Sticker Certification by the Air Resource Board of the California Environmental Protection Agency (CARB).
Standards for carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions established by the CARB result in regulations that govern off-road recreational vehicle usage in the state of California - and they are the most stringent in the nation.
Emissions testing of recreational off-road vehicles earns one of two CARB classifications: Green Sticker (indicating full compliance that meets or exceeds state EPA requirements) and Red Sticker (indicating limited usage and access to designated recreational areas due to elevated emissions).
The California Air Resources Board has approved five models of ATV's and six models of Dirt Bikes and awarded CARB Green Sticker certification, which allows Yamoto by Patriot(TM) vehicles full access in all off-road areas on a year-round basis.
"This certification gives us a huge leg up and puts the Yamoto by Patriot line in league with other leading recreational vehicle manufacturers... such as Kawasaki, Suzuki, Polaris, Artic Cat and Bombadier," notes Dan Cwieka, President of Patriot Motorcycles. "We anticipate a dramatic influx in dealer applications and a substantial increase in product demand in the California market. With other exciting products in development, Patriot is on the verge of becoming a major force in the recreational vehicle industry," Cwieka adds.
California is the number-one state for ATV's and off-road Dirt Bikes in the nation - its 1,100-plus recreational vehicle dealers capture 12% of the national market - and are on track for combined sales of over 123,000 ATV's and Dirt Bikes worth about $380 million (Dealernews, May 2005). Those numbers represent 30% growth over 2004 figures. CARB Green Sticker certification allows Patriot to accommodate the immense dealer demand for the complete Yamoto by Patriot(TM) product line.
"Our mission is to provide affordable family fun and excellence to our customers...in both our products and dealer organization," states Cwieka. "With our data showing that nearly 40% of Yamoto by Patriot sales are to first-time buyers, we are poised to create a whole new customer base within the biggest off-road vehicle market in the world."
