Diane E. Paul, MS, RN, Joins National Comprehensive Cancer Network as Vice President, Clinical Trials Network

JENKINTOWN, Pa. -- William T. McGivney, Ph.D., CEO of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), announces that Diane E. Paul, MS, RN, has joined NCCN as Vice President, Clinical Trials Network. In this role, Paul will be responsible for developing a centralized, standardized infrastructure for the conduct of clinical trials among NCCN's 19 member institutions.

"This network will be of interest to pharmaceutical/biotechnology companies for the conduct of their trials. And, it is our hope that collaboration will bring promising and effective new treatments to cancer patients," said McGivney.

Paul launched the NCCN Clinical Trials Network during her original tenure at NCCN from 1999 to 2003. Before rejoining NCCN, Paul served as Executive Director of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey Oncology Group and Director of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey Network at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She speaks often on such topics as cancer screening and prevention and has published articles in clinical publications including Cancer Investigation, Cancer Practice, and Oncology Nursing Forum.

For her work with the Cancer Hope Network, Paul received an "Unsung Heroine Award" in 1988 - an honor sponsored by the Women's Network of New Jersey and presented by Senator Bill Bradley. She also received the Information Service Partnership Award from the National Cancer Institute in 1996. She is a recipient of Coping magazine's Hero Award and Mirabella's "1000 Points of Light" Award.

Paul completed her master's degree in psychiatric/mental health nursing at Rutgers University and her undergraduate degree in nursing science at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station, New Jersey. She is a member of the Association of Cancer Executives, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Oncology Nursing Society.
