Email Marketing Solutions Agency Quris Recruits Former U.S. Department of Defense Information Security Chief to Spearhead Email Consumer Data Protection and Email Deliverability Management Programs
Business Wire, June 20, 2005
DENVER -- Quris, the full service email marketing solutions agency for Fortune 1000 companies, today announced the appointment of Gerilyn Born as vice president of Information Technology. Born brings 15 years of information security leadership experience with organizations including PeopleSoft/JD Edwards, CoBank and U.S. Department of Defense. In this new position, Born will lead Quris's customer data protection, fraud management and email deliverability management programs to fully integrate cutting-edge information security measures with Quris's leading email marketing services.
"As a leading provider of email marketing services to Fortune 1000 brands, we recognize information security is and will continue to be a top issue for our clients," states Kevin George, Chief Operating Officer of Quris. "Geri's broad IT background, and in-depth expertise in information security management, will provide strong technology leadership not only within Quris, but in the email marketing industry at large."
"Although today's marketers and consumers still view spam as the main inbox culprit, I see enterprise-level data security breaches and growing list of email-based frauds as even bigger threats in the long term," adds Born. "Marketers who don't implement proper consumer data protection measures and proactive fraud management processes will face a brutal wake-up call in the near future. Quris is well poised to introduce solutions to the marketplace that converge digital marketing and information security."
Prior to joining Quris, Born served as Director of Information Security at CoBank, a $31 billion financial services firm. Previously, she served as Director of Security Operations at PeopleSoft/JD Edwards, where she led a team of 25 engineers and certified security professionals to establish and maintain information security policies, processes, and procedures for both the network and applications. Born's additional IT security management leadership roles include serving as Chief of Information Security of the U.S. Department of Defense, where she managed 500-plus staff responsible for prescribing departmental policy and documentation guidelines. Born holds an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder and an M.S. in Business Management from the University of Colorado, Denver and is a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP).
