"As they market and sell their digital assets into emerging global markets, our software publishers are proactively looking for new, more efficient ways to standardize and simplify their licensing efforts while at the same time seeking to broaden their online marketing and sales opportunities," said Joel Ronning, CEO of Digital River. "SoftwarePassport is built to help publishers address this challenge. SoftwarePassport's focus - and competitive advantage - run well beyond software protection to encompass revenue generation. We are pleased more of our clients are integrating the technology into their Digital River e-commerce solutions and plan to continue developing and enhancing it in the future."
SoftwarePassport is designed to help publishers:
--Leverage full functionality via a wizard-based interface or via a Software Developer's Kit (SDK);
--Create a seamless online buying experience for their customers through convenient in-application purchase pages;
--Cost effectively distribute a product title into multiple online markets and channels - try-before-you-buy, direct and retail - through a single, simplified process;
--Address and identify lead source generation through reporting, analytics and tracking to help maximize ROI by targeting the right partners;
--Customize software protection through delivery, control, activation and monitoring of licenses for proper usage and payment; and
--Manage the consumer returns process by confirming deactivation of the software license prior to reimbursement.
"SoftwarePassport is helping us address two important concerns in the online delivery of our application - intellectual property protection and payment for fair use - topics that all publishers in the digital market are diligently addressing," said Jonathan Kahn, president of Allume Systems. "By integrating SoftwarePassport with our e-commerce system, we can better manage and track the online sale and delivery of our licenses while maintaining a good user experience, and in the end provide added protection for our revenue streams."
"SoftwarePassport offers us sophisticated online marketing capabilities as well as advanced tools for managing and monitoring the legal use of our products," said Jon D'Angelica, director of online sales at Pinnacle Systems. "We plan to leverage its advanced marketing capabilities to market trial versions of our software as promotional tools, and then monitor and track conversions to full product purchases. Because SoftwarePassport is designed as an integrated part of our e-commerce solution, we can offer prospective customers a simple and seamless way to try our products risk free before making a final purchase."
