Nutritional Supplement Significantly Improves Pregnancy Rate According to Breakthrough Study Published in the Journal of Women's Health

Business Wire, June 21, 2005

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- A pioneering clinical study abstract on the role of nutritional supplementation in reproductive health is published this month in the peer-reviewed Journal of Women's Health (Volume 14, Issue 4). The double-blind, placebo-controlled study offers dramatic results and provides an appealing alternative for women hoping to conceive.

Conducted by investigators at the Stanford University School of Medicine, the study found a statistically significant increase in pregnancy rate following nutritional supplementation with FertilityBlend(TM). After six months, 17 of the 53 women in the FB group were pregnant (32%), while only four of the 40 women in the placebo group were pregnant (10%). This difference is statistically significant at p less than 0.01. No negative side effects were noted.

The study's authors include Lynn Westphal, M.D., Assistant Professor in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology, and Mary Lake Polan, M.D., Ph.D., MPH, Professor and Chair of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Stanford University School of Medicine.

Infertility is a major problem in the U.S. and worldwide. One out of every six couples in the U.S., and one out of every three couples in their late 30's, has difficulty conceiving a child. An ever-increasing number of couples are leaning towards trying natural remedies first, which may help change the paradigm of how infertility is evaluated and treated. As a less invasive, better tolerated, and more affordable option becomes available to improve fertility health, consumers and physicians are taking it more seriously.

"It surprised us when this nutritional supplement worked as well as it did," says Dr. Lynn Westphal. "It's very exciting. Women are delighted when they can use something easier. This is oral and they can just take it at home, rather than go through some more invasive treatments," comments Westphal.

"Good nutrition is a pre-requisite for fertility and childbearing, and is particularly important for those deciding to become pregnant at a more advanced age," says study co-author and Chair of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Stanford, Dr. Mary Lake Polan. "This expanded study data is persuasive and provides an important option for women."

The study conducted on FertilityBlend(TM) is the first of its kind for a nutritional supplement in the reproductive health category. Ninety-three (93) women, age 24-42 years, who had tried unsuccessfully to conceive for 6-36 months, completed the study.

In addition to the dramatic increase in pregnancy in the FertilityBlend group, improvement was also noted in the women's mid-luteal phase progesterone levels, basal body temperatures, and cycle length, as major indicators of the body's readiness to conceive.

So far, in a similar 3-month study of FertilityBlend(TM) for Men, sperm counts have increased by an average of 55 percent, sperm motility increased by 34 percent, and sperm linearity was also significantly enhanced in the treatment group. The placebo group did not show any significant changes.

FertilityBlend(TM) for Women ingredients include chasteberry (vitex agnus-castus) -- an herb that encourages healthy ovulation; folic acid -- for the prevention of certain birth defects; green tea, vitamin E and selenium -- antioxidants that may promote reproductive wellness; L-arginine -- an essential amino acid that benefits sexual and reproductive health; plus vitamins B6 and B12, iron, magnesium and zinc -- nutrients which can be directly related to fertility health.

FertilityBlend(TM) for Men improves sperm health. Ingredients include L-carnitine -- an amino acid critical to the formation of healthy, active sperm; ferulic acid -- an antioxidant shown to improve sperm quality; vitamins C and E, green tea and selenium-antioxidants essential for overall reproductive health; plus zinc, folic acid and vitamins B6 and B12 -- nutrients involved in hormone metabolism, sperm formation and motility.

Also available is the FertilityBlend(TM) Optimization System which contains a three-month supply of FertilityBlend(TM) for Women, a three month supply of FertilityBlend(TM) for Men, a basal body temperature BBT thermometer, charts and instructions, five ovulation predictor tests to optimize conception timing, a set of three home pregnancy tests to confirm pregnancy, and a detailed booklet and instructional DVD. FertilityBlend Optimization System is available online at www.fertilityblend.com and by calling 1-866-Baby-To-B.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted patent 6,497,885 to the Daily Wellness Company for FertilityBlend(TM) covering both "Method and Composition for Improving Fertility Health in Female and Male Animals and Humans." Additional patents are pending.
