International Fund for Animal Welfare — IFAW — More Than Doubles its Donations Using Kintera Microsite Technology; www.StoptheSealHunt.com Draws Unprecedented Audience During Canada's Controversial Annual Seal Hunt

Business Wire, June 23, 2005

SAN DIEGO -- Gathering supporters to end the senseless killing of baby seals during the commercial hunting season that takes place each spring in Canada has been a rallying cry of the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) for the past 36 years. This year for the first time, IFAW developed a microsite in conjunction with its technology partner, Kintera(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:KNTA), the leading provider of software as a service to the nonprofit industry, to strengthen its activist movement and stop the controversial hunt. E[acute accent]IFAW's use of a microsite, www.StoptheSealHunt.com, as an online marketing tool resulted in dramatic increases in donations and memberships for the nonprofit organization. In just two months ended April 30, 2005, the microsite, which is a segment of the larger website www.ifaw.org, enabled the nonprofit to experience a 174 percent increase in donations and a 108 percent increase in online memberships from the same time period in 2004.

E[acute accent]For the 2005 campaign to end the seal hunt, fundraising results included:

--$118,867 in donations was collected online -- up from $43,329 in 2004.

--And, 28,491 new online memberships were acquired -- up from 13,713 in 2004.

E[acute accent]A microsite is designed with precise objectives and contains specific functionality that gives individuals a closer connection to an organization. In this case, the IFAW microsite allows people to call for an end to the seal hunt by writing letters to local and state representatives as well as the Canadian government. E[acute accent]"Creating a specific site detailing our efforts to end the hunt helped us reach a much larger audience, many of whom were not aware of IFAW before," said Fred O'Regan, IFAW's president and CEO. "As a result, an unprecedented number of people around the world sent action letters to the Canadian government, urging an end to this barbaric practice." E[acute accent]With Kintera's web-based tools, IFAW was able to easily maintain all of the various areas of www.StoptheSealHunt.com. The site contained specialized local content and language to create a truly global web platform that was customized for each country. E[acute accent]Featuring Kintera's robust Content Management System (CMS), the website enabled IFAW staff to easily update content and keep the site's information fresh and active without HTML experience or the need for additional IT personnel. Kintera technology also provides the software platform for the organization's main website at www.ifaw.org. E[acute accent]"The success IFAW has had with its microsite in just two short months underscores the importance of online technology in helping nonprofits achieve their mission," said Kintera's CEO Harry E. Gruber. "We are extremely pleased that Kintera's innovative technology has expanded the international reach of the organization to a larger online audience."
