Network Appliance Refreshes NetCache Portfolio; New Systems Establish Clear Price and Performance Leadership in Market for Enterprise Web Security and Acceleration
Business Wire, June 24, 2005
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Network Appliance, Inc. (Nasdaq:NTAP) unveiled two new midrange NetCache(R) systems today -- the NetApp(R) C2300 and C3300 -- to strengthen the company's Internet access and security solution for enterprise data centers. The C2300 and C3300 provide more midrange deployment options than the previous NetCache portfolio. The new systems double NetCache price performance compared to older NetCache systems.

"Internet access and security have become hot topics in an era of growing spyware, spam, phishing attacks, and viruses," said Dave Kresse, senior director and general manager of the Content Delivery business unit at Network Appliance. "Corporate users rely on the Internet for a variety of productivity and communications tools, research, and collaborative computing. But the same Internet that makes workers productive can be disastrous to a company's technology infrastructure if malicious programs are inadvertently -- or purposefully -- downloaded and unleashed. Additionally, in an age of increased corporate scrutiny of employee behavior, our Internet access and security solution provides effective controls to enforce corporate policies on employee Internet use and Web surfing."
The new NetApp NetCache C2300 and C3300 round out the complete NetCache family, which can be used for Internet access and security, business applications acceleration for users in remote and distributed enterprise locations, and Internet streaming and video delivery. The C2300 offers 1GB of RAM and scalability from two to six internal disk drives. The C3300 is the market's midrange performance leader with 2GB of RAM and scalability from two to twenty drives. The NetCache family is an integral part of the full NetApp data management suite of products and gives customers another option to fine-tune their data infrastructure for maximum performance, uptime, and protection.
NetApp NetCache C2300 and C3300 systems are available immediately. Pricing is available upon request from NetApp Sales or NetApp distribution and channel partners.
