121 Communications Selects Vivisimo Velocity to Launch MacherSearch, a Next-Generation Vertical Search Portal; Also Becomes Vivisimo-Authorized Technology Partner for Web Design and Development Customers
Business Wire, June 27, 2005
PITTSBURGH -- Vivisimo (www.Vivisimo.com), creator of innovative software to search and cluster the world's information, today announced that 121 Communications Inc., a Web development and marketing company specializing in vertical portals and community-oriented Web sites, has developed its new MacherSearch Jewish search portal using the entire Vivisimo Velocity suite of products - Clustering Engine, Search Engine and Content Integrator. 121 Communications will also resell Vivisimo's Velocity Enterprise Search Suite as an authorized technology partner.
MacherSearch is a new offering from Machers.com, the ultimate Jewish Web site. MacherSearch is the first search engine that crawls and indexes tens of thousands of Jewish and Israeli Web sites, allowing users to search within "the Jewish Web" and get only the most relevant results. By deploying Vivisimo Velocity, 121 Communications is ensuring that MacherSearch visitors get the most relevant search results and have a faster, more precise way to navigate through the Web site's wealth of content and information. The Search Engine and Content Integrator in the Velocity suite deliver fast, highly relevant results from select Jewish Web sites while the Clustering Engine organizes search results automatically into folders, grouping similar items together for faster navigation.
"MacherSearch is an ideal destination for showcasing the power of Vivisimo's technology," said Paul R. Levy, CEO of 121 Communications. "We believe that clustering technology greatly differentiates and improves the experience for visitors to a search site. Best of all, Vivisimo Velocity was fast and deployed with unprecedented ease."
Going forward, 121 Communications will be able to license any or all products from the Velocity suite to its customers and build Vivisimo-powered search portals for any vertical application.
"Over the past year, we have seen clustering evolve from a cool gadget to a must have feature," said Frank Bilotto, senior director of publishing for Vivisimo. "For a site like MacherSearch, which crawls tens of thousands of Web sites in order to deliver extensive search results, it just makes sense to organize information so that it is easy and intuitive for users to navigate. The implementation of Vivisimo Velocity that 121 Communications has rolled out with MacherSearch is a prime example of what will become the standard look and feel for vertical search."
