TechSmith Releases Camtasia Studio 3 with Picture-in-Picture and Quizzing to Create On-Demand and Interactive e-Learning; New Video Capture Capability Aids Institutions in Complying with Standards for Sign Language for Online Course Content

Business Wire, June 27, 2005

PHILADELPHIA -- TechSmith Corp., the world's leading provider of screen capture and recording solutions, today announced the availability of Camtasia Studio 3 with Picture-in-Picture (PIP), quizzing, and other interactive features designed to help create robust, on-demand e-Learning content. The product is being showcased in TechSmith's booth (#1831) at NECC 2005, which runs June 27-30 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Used by thousands of educators around the world, Camtasia Studio provides professors, teachers, and instructional designers with a professional and easy-to-use solution for recording lectures and online coursework without the need for multimedia or programming expertise.

"As colleges and universities continue to move more courses online, incorporating and preserving the educator in that content becomes more important," said Tanya Reynolds, Academic Marketing Manager, TechSmith Corporation. "Camtasia Studio is powerful, simple software that allows educators to put their voices, their personalities, and video of themselves into the online materials they create."

Camtasia Studio's full-motion recording allows educators to record live in-room lectures when using a PC, Tablet PC, Wacom(R), or interactive whiteboard. All inking and marking is recorded, even when using PowerPoint, along with the educator's audio and camera feed. This content can be posted online as Flash (SWF) or streaming media files for students and colleagues to view at their convenience or for distance-learning courses.

In addition to video capture and PIP other new features in Camtasia Studio 3 include:

--Quizzing - Allows organizations to assess learning with multiple-choice quizzes. Answers can be reported back to SCORM-compliant Learning Management Systems.

--Interactive Callouts - Gives users one-click control to make any Callout a HotSpot for interactive navigation.

--30 days of free Web hosting - Camtasia Studio 3 users receive 30 days of free third-party Web hosting for their videos, with additional monthly contract options.

--JPEG compression for Flash (SWF) - Users can significantly reduce SWF file size for graphically intensive recordings such as photographs, CAD drawings, or any complex graphic.

--Automated publishing - New production wizard aids educators in publishing and sharing videos; it is optimized for email or DVD sharing.

--Additional audio and video tracks - With richer video production capabilities, such as PIP, additional audio and video tracks are provided.

--Faster audio editing - A new audio-editing toolbar has been added to help educators quickly adjust audio levels.
