Indus Customer Xcel Energy Wins M2M Magazine Value Chain Award; Utility Innovations Recognized as Top Technology Initiative in Energy Industry
Business Wire, June 29, 2005
ATLANTA -- Indus International Inc. (NASDAQ: IINT), a leading provider of Service Delivery Management (SDM)(TM) solutions, today announced that Indus customer Xcel Energy (NYSE: XEL) has been named the winner of M2M Magazine's 2005 Value Chain Gold Award for the energy industry. The awards honor the most successful adopters of machine-to-machine (M2M) technology in a variety of markets, focusing on how all the elements of the M2M value chain create a winning solution for the end customer. Xcel Energy was recognized for its transformative Utility Innovations initiative, for which the Indus SDM software plays a crucial role in work management, resource optimization, scheduling and mobility solutions. The award was presented earlier this week at the M2M United conference in Chicago.
"Utility Innovations is changing the way we deliver service to electricity customers, leveraging and integrating the most advanced technologies to improve customer satisfaction and better manage the assets of local electric grids," said Ray Gogel, Chief Information Officer at Xcel Energy. "This award is a validation of the work we and our technology partners have done to advance our business and our industry as a whole."
Xcel Energy is utilizing a comprehensive Indus SDM solution combining industry leading asset and field service management to deploy a fully integrated, end-to-end field operations management process leveraging resource optimization. The solution is part of the pioneering Utility Innovations initiative, announced by Xcel Energy earlier this year, designed to create new and innovative ways to deliver service to electricity customers through a unique partnership with some of the nation's best high-technology firms. Xcel Energy anticipates significant benefits from scheduling, design and crew productivity as the results of the Utility Innovations initiative are deployed.
"Our role within Xcel Energy's initiative exemplifies how Indus' SDM solutions help our customers reinvent service to deliver transformational business change," said Indus President and CEO Greg Dukat. "Whether alone or in combination with other technology components, we enable the automation and productivity gains required to turn service into a competitive advantage. Indus customers in a broad range of markets are leveraging our solutions to deliver world-class service that creates loyal customers and new revenue streams."
"The true potential of M2M technologies is being better understood all the time, and we are leading the charge in increasing market awareness," said Michael Jarosik, Editor of M2M Magazine. "Xcel Energy was chosen as a Value Chain Gold Award winner because the Utility Innovations program is a clear example of multiple technologies uniting to deliver superior business value."
The award continues Indus' record of industry recognition for its vision and innovation in Service Delivery Management. Leading industry analyst firm Gartner recently named Indus the sole visionary in its Magic Quadrant for Field Service Management.(1)
