The Constitutional Walking Tour Announces the Inaugural Season of Guided Walking Tours of Historic Philadelphia; Frequent Daily Departures Throughout the Summer from the Independence Visitor Center

Business Wire, June 3, 2005

PHILADELPHIA -- The Constitutional Walking Tour of Philadelphia today announced the launch of daily guided walking tours of historic Philadelphia during the summer season. Beginning on June 3, 2005, visitors to Philadelphia will be able to follow in the Founding Fathers' footsteps with The Constitutional Guided Walking Tour, an escorted journey through America's most historic square mile. Visitors can step back in time to see where The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution of the United States were created. The Constitutional Guided Walking Tour includes many sites within the Independence National Historical Park area, such as the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the National Constitution Center and the Betsy Ross House.

The Constitutional Guided Walking Tour is Philadelphia's only walking tour that is offered daily with frequent departures throughout the day from the Independence Visitor Center at 6th & Market Streets. The guided tour:

--Visits more than 20 of the most popular historic sites and attractions

--Provides a 75 minute walking adventure on a 1.25 mile tour

--Is offered 7 days a week with frequent departures throughout the day from the Independence Visitor Center

--Costs $15.00 per adult, $12.50 per child, ages 3-12. (Group rates are available on parties of 25 or more for conventions, special events, camps and schools, and custom private tours for parties of 2 or more are also available upon request.)

Tickets can be purchased: 1) online at www.TheConstitutional.com, 2) by calling 215-525-1776, or 3) in person at the Independence Visitor Center at 6th and Market Streets in Philadelphia.

"We are thrilled to begin operations of our guided walking tours this summer," stated Jonathan Bari, Chairman of The Constitutional Walking Tour. "Philadelphia is best seen by foot, and as such, we launched The Constitutional as a free, self-guided walking tour in Summer 2003, and it quickly became one of Philadelphia's Top 25 Tourist Attractions according to The Philadelphia Business Journal. Due to visitor requests and market demand for guided tours, we are proud to launch daily guided walking tours on an ongoing basis, with frequent departures throughout the day, as a value-added service to Philadelphia's visitors."

In order to provide the optimal visitor experience, The Constitutional's knowledgeable and friendly tour guides have been specially trained by The Constitutional's "Independence Immersion" program, an intensive and fun curriculum focusing on Philadelphia history, American history and local tourist attractions, as well as best practices in public speaking, storytelling, customer service, hospitality and visitor experience.

In addition to providing the quintessential Philadelphia tour experience that includes learning about Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, The Constitutional's Guided Walking Tour also features contemporary information that transcends history along the route. One such example is along Signers' Walk (on Chestnut Street between 6th and 7th Streets) when The Constitutional's tour guide will ask, "How many of you are fans of the NBC show The West Wing starring Martin Sheen as the President of the United States?" The tour guide will then show the plaque paying tribute to Josiah Bartlett, a physician from New Hampshire, who was a signer of The Declaration of Independence. According to The West Wing plotline, Martin Sheen's character, President Josiah "Jed" Bartlett, who is also from New Hampshire, is a descendant of Josiah Bartlett who signed The Declaration of Independence.

To help celebrate the official launch of The Constitutional Guided Walking Tour, guided tour customers in June will receive either a free Freedom Yo-Yo or a Freedom Fan. Plus, visitors can receive $1.00 off admission to the National Constitution Center by showing their same day ticket stub from The Constitutional Guided Walking Tour.

Tours operate daily through Labor Day Weekend (September 5, 2005), continue on weekends throughout Fall 2005, and will resume a daily schedule again in Summer 2006. Tours can be arranged in French and Swedish with advance reservations.
