New Boundary Technologies Announces Support of Microsoft Network Access Protection Platform
Business Wire, June 6, 2005
ORLANDO, Fla. -- New Boundary Technologies(R), a provider of automated IT management and security solutions, today announced support for the Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Network Access Protection (NAP) platform, an extensible standards-based technology that will enable users to more securely access their corporate network. Network Access Protection allows IT professionals to monitor and control network access based on validation of a computer's compliance to pre-established policies. New Boundary Technologies will enable its Policy Commander(TM) security policy enforcement solution for the NAP platform. The company made the announcement at the TechEd 2005 conference in Orlando, Florida.
Released in April 2005, Policy Commander automatically secures computers and access to information kept within an organization's network. Policy Commander dynamically controls computer security settings by continuously monitoring and automatically enforcing Windows security policies. Policy Commander provides both an executive-level 'bird's-eye' summary of security policy compliance with the granular control needed by network administrators.
"Policy Commander and the Microsoft NAP platform will help organizations better control the compliance state of computers accessing the network," said Kim Pearson, president and chief executive officer of New Boundary Technologies. "This will significantly reduce the risk of exploits by ensuring that computers joining the network have the correct configurations and end-point security solutions installed and updated. By supporting the NAP platform, we are extending our commitment to deliver security compliance solutions that work seamlessly with the leading computing platforms."
Within the NAP platform, network access policies are defined and implemented by network administrators and managed by a central policy coordination server. NAP technologies first validate computers joining the network to determine if each system is compliant with network access policies. Non-compliant computers are routed to a separate, restricted network where updates and utilities can be applied to bring the computer into compliance. Once a computer in the restricted network becomes compliant with access policies, it is automatically revalidated for access to the main network.
