LEXINGTON, Mass. -- Arbor Networks(R), a leader in network security, today announced the Active Threat Feed Security Service for its Peakflow(R) X enterprise security platform. Arbor's Active Threat Feed (ATF) is the first 24x7 service that delivers behavioral fingerprints of emerging worldwide threats directly to enterprise security teams. Fueled by Arbor's newly-formed Security Response Team, the Active Threat Feed safeguards internal enterprise networks against phishing, worms, botnets and other emerging threats before they strike and harm critical business operations.

Arbor's Security Response Team, run by Arbor's Principal Security Architect Dug Song, a widely recognized security researcher, identifies emerging threats around the clock from a variety of sources. Leveraging Arbor's global security presence and proprietary global monitoring infrastructure, the Arbor Security Response Team identifies the most critical and potentially destructive new attacks. As threats are identified, Arbor generates a behavioral fingerprint and automatically updates Peakflow X to protect the enterprise's network.

By providing enterprises with behavioral descriptions or cyber "fingerprints" of the latest emerging threats, administrators can actively protect and harden their internal networks before attacks cause millions of dollars in lost revenue and downtime. ATF builds on Peakflow X's behavioral anomaly detection, with its unmatched ability to identify potential attacks and prevent insider misuse.

Unlike signature-based systems that look for bad packets or patterns that make them prone to false positives, behavioral fingerprints are more advanced in their ability to identify abnormal groups of behaviors.
