Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazine Select Configuresoft ECM and SUM as Systems Management Best of TechEd 2005 Awards Finalists

Business Wire, June 6, 2005

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Windows IT Pro announced today that Configuresoft Enterprise Configuration Manager (ECM) and Security Update Manager (SUM) were among 31 finalists for the Best of TechEd 2005 Awards conducted by Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazine. The nomination recognizes Configuresoft, an innovator in systems management technology and the creator of the enterprise compliance management market, as a leading provider of solutions in the Systems Management category. Winners will be determined and announced at TechEd 2005 in Orlando, Florida on June 8 at an evening awards reception.

"We reviewed more than 260 entries for this year's Best of TechEd on strategic importance to the market, competitive advantages and value to the customer. This year's nominations really highlighted how third party vendors provide IT infrastructure with both stand-alone solutions and products that extend Windows, Exchange, ASP.NET, SQL Server, and other technologies," said Adam Carheden, MCSE, CCNA product and technology editor for Windows IT Pro Magazine.

"This acknowledgement helps validate Configuresoft's technology leadership and commitment to delivering enterprise control of configuration management and security compliance to our customers," said Alexander Goldstein, CEO of Configuresoft. "Configuresoft is enabling administrators to quickly understand whether the actual state of their enterprise is the desired state. Configuresoft's solutions balance the challenges between security and IT operations, enabling organizations to proactively meet regulatory compliance and security policy requirements."

About Enterprise Configuration Manager and Security Update Manager

ECM centralizes and automates the tasks of monitoring, managing and auditing the hardware and software configurations deployed in large enterprise networks or Web server farms. By standardizing server and client configurations, ECM ensures operational compliance to regulatory, industry and corporate standards throughout a computing infrastructure. Sustained by the industry's most proven scalable architecture, ECM collects detailed critical configuration data from each Windows, UNIX, and Linux server and workstation--storing that information in a centralized database for immediate access, analysis and reporting.

ECM enforces security policies by automatically resetting configurations to their pre-defined standards when an unauthorized change (or deviation) occurs. These powerful capabilities help IT organizations keep their critical systems properly configured, while ensuring security compliance with regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, GLBA, Sarbanes-Oxley and FISMA.

One of ECM's award-winning modules, SUM ensures the effectiveness of enterprise Microsoft patching. SUM instantly assesses entire networks to detect vulnerabilities and deploy required patches to all the target machines, including coverage for Spanish, Danish and French operating systems and applications. By leveraging the vast repository of configuration information stored in the ECM database, users can quickly view the current configurations and patch status of the machines on their networks. Then, using remote patch distribution points, administrators can update their entire infrastructure using minimal bandwidth, to machines--even inside of a firewall-protected DMZ.
