netGuru Inc. in Software Agreement with ADAPT Corporation; For Seamless Integration of Structural Concrete Design Software
Business Wire, June 7, 2005
YORBA LINDA, Calif. -- netGuru, Inc. (Company) (Nasdaq:NGRU) entered an agreement with ADAPT Corporation to integrate netGuru's STAAD.Pro structural engineering software with ADAPT's Floor Pro software for analyzing and designing concrete slabs and other structural components.
Privately held ADAPT is the world leader in design software for reinforced and post-tensioned concrete floor systems, beam frames, and mat foundations. ADAPT software is used by more than 3,500 customers worldwide and has been utilized in the construction of a number of notable structures, including the exhibition hall at Moscone Center in San Francisco, the Aswan Cable Stayed bridge in Egypt, the new international airport in Brussels, and other large buildings and bridges.
STAAD.Pro's structural design capabilities will be integrated with the specialized concrete design capabilities of ADAPT-Floor Pro to enable engineers to automatically design concrete floors and other concrete components into the overall structural requirements engineered by STAAD.Pro. This seamless capability would be a major breakthrough for engineers, since the current process requires manual transfers of data between STAAD.Pro and ADAPT software to accomplish those typically separate design functions.
netGuru's REI division will hold the exclusive right to sell the newly integrated software, and REI will also sell ADAPT's current line of software in several markets around the world. ADAPT and REI will also co-develop selected international design codes not currently included in ADAPT software.
Dr. Bijan Aalami, ADAPT founder and chief executive officer, remarked: "Over the years we have provided full-service software, support and consulting services for some of the largest and successful designers and contractors, such as Walter P. Moore, Carter & Burgess, Freyssinet, Parsons Brinkerhoff, and government-level infrastructure agencies, such as the departments of transportation for California, Florida, and Texas. The planned integration of the capabilities of netGuru's STAAD.Pro structural engineering software with the capabilities of our Floor Pro software will add significant value to our present and future customers, who will have a chance to see the finished product at netGuru's rei2005 Conference in Las Vegas on July 22 and 23."
netGuru Chairman and Chief Executive Amrit Das commented: "We are pleased with this opportunity to further enhance STAAD.Pro with new concrete design capabilities in partnership with the leader in that field. In addition, ADAPT's capability to perform 'local' analysis and design of the floor, with or without post-tensioning, complements STAAD.Pro's existing concrete design features, which lack that particular function."
"As a result, STAAD.Pro in its newly integrated form is expected to be particularly beneficial for designing multi-story commercial buildings, parking structures and high rise structures," Das continued. "Those segments of the construction market are undergoing tremendous growth especially in Southeast Asia, China, South America, and India, regions where concrete is more popular than steel as a building material due to the availability of cheaper labor and the rising cost of steel. Based on increasing activity in the construction markets and continuing strong demand for general structural and concrete engineering software, we expect to see positive effects on revenues in future periods."
