Questcon Technologies Conducts Test Automation ROI Speaking Engagement At The IBM-Rational Software Development Conference In May
Business Wire, June 8, 2005
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Questcon Technologies, a division of Howard Systems International Inc., (HSI) announced today that the company had accepted an invitation to speak at the IBM-Rational Software Development Conference in Las Vegas last month. The conference, attended by over 2200 US and international professional people, featured such keynote speakers as Grady Booch, an IBM Fellow; Danny Sabbah, IBM-Rational's General Manager and Thomas Dolby, creator of Dolby Sound and author of many other significant accomplishments.
Phil Sams, Questcon's Senior Practice Manager and holder of BSCS and MS-MIS degrees, presented and demonstrated a case study entitled "Improving Your Test Automation ROI Using Object-Oriented Testing Techniques" in which he described the development of an automated testing system for a large Client/Server application (over 250 windows and 275 tables). A traditional automated testing approach to this case would require over 3,750 routines and 112K source lines of code. By using his Object-Oriented model implemented with Rational Robot, Mr. Sams was able to accomplish all testing objectives with 250 routines and 30K source lines of code, while achieving all goals of the project including an improved ROI, code reuse, modularity, scalability and minimized maintenance.
The overall theme of the conference was Better Software/Better Business; both objectives are realized through Business-Driven Development. According to Mr. Sams, "IBM-Rational is leading the way on this by embracing an Open Source/Open License philosophy and portability of their product suite to Linux and Open Source environments. I'm pleased I was able to use my knowledge and experience with the Rational product suite to represent Questcon and contribute to the overall success of the conference."
Chris Laney, Questcon's Vice President, went on to say, "We've helped hundreds of clients across the country maximize their return on their automated testing investment. Being able to share the speaking platform and agenda with such a distinguished and accomplished field of presenters has given us a tremendous opportunity to demonstrate our standing within the industry and the value we represent. We are incorporating the Rational product suite into our business plan as a key focus area and cornerstone of our future growth."
