GMS Instant Messenger Now Integrated with Outlook, Extending IM to the Enterprise

Business Wire, March 1, 2005

NEW YORK -- GMS Instant Messenger now includes a native Windows client which integrates closely with MS Outlook providing IM, Presence, Location, SMS and Pager access to all users

Gordano Ltd. -- an international developer of low-cost, web-based enterprise messaging products -- has released Version 10.03 of the Gordano Messaging Suite, a multi-platform messaging system providing an easy-to-use alternative to Microsoft Exchange. GMS is compatible with Windows (NT, XP, 2000, 2003), Linux (Redhat, Suse, Mandrake, Debian, etc), Solaris and AIX.

This release of GMS includes Version 4 of GMS Instant Messenger, which provides a native Windows Instant Messaging (IM) client. The introduction of this client allows tight integration into the Windows desktop providing the feature-rich interface which users have come to expect from IM clients. The IM client also integrates into Outlook, extending access to presence and location information while also allowing users to send Instant Messages, SMS messages and Pager messages directly from within the mail client.

The Windows IM client provides additional security using SSL encryption for all server traffic. The content of all message transactions can be checked and monitored for compliance and auditing purposes. These capabilities mean GMS Instant Messenger provides a truly outstanding corporate IM solution.

The multi-client access offered by the Windows and Java-based IM clients is a common theme in GMS. GMS Collaboration allows Outlook users to share their folders while GMS WebMail allows users to access their Outlook Calendars and Contacts when away from the office. The same calendars may also be accessed using standard calendaring clients such as Mozilla Calendar and Apple iCal.

The Gordano Messaging Suite provides a realistic, fully functional alternative to Microsoft Exchange across a range of platforms while supporting Outlook's familiar features. The integration of the Windows IM client further extends on this capability.

"We have always been pleased with the Outlook integration features of the Gordano Messaging Suite components, and the new GMS Instant Messenger client for Windows is no exception," said Arlene Bachman, Sales Manager at Abraxis Networks. "Our admin was pleased to note the SSL support and the inherent client (GMS WebMail/Outlook) interoperability makes it a cinch coordinating meetings."
