iPolicy Networks Positioned in the 'Visionary' Quadrant of World Renowned Magic Quadrant Report
Business Wire, March 1, 2005
FREMONT, Calif. -- iPolicy Networks, inventor of the Intrusion Prevention Firewall for real-time network protection, today announced that industry analyst firm Gartner, Inc. has positioned iPolicy Networks in the "Visionary" quadrant in the recently released report: Magic Quadrant for Network Firewalls, 2H04. This widely recognized and highly regarded Gartner report evaluates network security vendors along two key dimensions: ability to execute and completeness of vision.
According to Gartner, Magic Quadrant for Network Firewalls, 2H04 continues to examine a rapidly changing marketplace. The change in the firewall space represented by new vendors, enhanced technologies and defenses against new threats is largely due to the continually evolving threat landscape. New developments in computing or networking bring new exposures that are exploited by amateurs and professionals, and the most relied upon network safeguard is still the firewall. Gartner defines vendors listed in the Visionary quadrant as having a clear vision of market direction and are focused on preparing for that, but they can still improve in terms of optimizing service delivery.
iPolicy Network's Intrusion Prevention Firewall is a next generation firewall that goes beyond traditional access control and delivers a comprehensive set of security defense mechanisms. A key innovation is the iPolicy Networks' Single Pass Architecture(TM) which combines high speed layer 3-7 deep packet inspection with instant checks against an integrated and highly optimized rule tree. The unique architecture makes possible real-time attack prevention and the enforcement of security policies for all security functions enabled at throughputs up to 4Gbps. It enables iPolicy Networks to successfully block today's increasingly sophisticated threats, with no compromise to network performance and network latency. The iPolicy Intrusion Prevention Firewall incorporates multiple security defense mechanisms including stateful firewall, intrusion detection and prevention, DoS and DDoS mitigation, URL filtering and antivirus, intrinsically built into the firewall application.
For this most recent report, Gartner took a fresh look at network security and revised criteria used in determining completeness of vision. Gartner's stated the following key criteria for placing security vendors along the Completeness of Vision axis:
--Wide ability to recognize and block attacks
--Ability to recognize the needs of the enterprise and build them into the product
--Investment in specialized network processing hardware (ASICs) or off the shelf content and security processors to do stateful and deep packet inspection at wire speeds
--Central management of many remote devices, including bi-directional communications
--Ability to load balance or configure in a Highly Available mode
--Logging and reporting
--Fast paced roll out of new application defenses
"iPolicy Networks' is excited to be positioned by Gartner in the visionary quadrant among network firewall providers. We believe this is confirmation of our product strategy, innovative approach and superior technology," said Arun Chandra, CEO of iPolicy Networks. "Protecting enterprise and carrier networks from next generation threats is our mission and iPolicy Networks will continue to lead the way and strive to bring innovative solutions to bear against the increasingly sophisticated threats our customers face."
