Crossroads Demonstrates StrongBox Monitor at the Data Warehousing Institute World Conference
Business Wire, March 1, 2005
AUSTIN, Texas -- Network-Based Appliance Captures Database Traffic for Utilization and Performance Analysis
Crossroads Systems(R) Inc. (Nasdaq:CRDS), a leading global provider of network-based data management solutions, today announced it will be demonstrating its StrongBox Monitor appliance at The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI) World Conference, March 1-2, 2005, at the Venetian Resort Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Announced recently, StrongBox Monitor is provided through a subscription service and is available directly from Crossroads Systems.
During the demonstration at TDWI, StrongBox Monitor will capture and analyze database traffic without creating any impact to normal database traffic or application behavior. As an "out-of-band" network appliance, StrongBox Monitor will also showcase a comprehensive suite of easy-to-use, customizable reports regarding database utilization and performance. These capabilities will demonstrate the value of StrongBox Monitor as a data management tool for administrators and developers seeking to understand, troubleshoot, monitor, and improve the performance of their application infrastructure.
"As the first member of Crossroads StrongBox family of products, the StrongBox Monitor provides zero-impact performance monitoring and analysis of database resources," said David Boles, chief technology officer, Crossroads Systems. "In addition to StrongBox Monitor, Crossroads plans to offer StrongBox Tracker that will address a broad range of data management requirements, including security, audit, and compliance requirements associated with Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and other new regulations."
"Deploying network-attached, intelligent appliances is a perfect solution to handle today's crucial security and compliance requirements without modifying any of the existing patchwork of applications. Most security schemes in place today were designed before the current set of regulations went into effect and simply cannot handle many aspects of compliance-related rules gracefully," said Neil Raden, Principal Analyst, Hired Brains Research. "Crossroads StrongBox family of products is designed to meet these new requirements and provide complete, reliable and scalable services with an absolute minimum of installation effort, maintenance or application degradation."
As the first product offering in the StrongBox family, StrongBox Monitor generates reports on database access with detailed representations of response time, query type, data volume, table and column accesses, and other factors. Analysis is presented in a variety of graphical and tabular formats that can be filtered by server, client, database, or user. StrongBox Monitor is designed to work in concert with Crossroads' planned offering of StrongBox Tracker, which will function like a "black box" for the network, providing unique reporting capabilities to analyze network audit trails, discover the source of security breaches, and determine the extent of information losses.
