Brightpoint Announces Global Collaboration with Intel for Intel-Based Wireless Devices
Business Wire, March 14, 2005
NEW ORLEANS -- Brightpoint, Inc. (NASDAQ:CELL) announced today that they have entered into an agreement with Intel to collaborate on global sales of wireless devices based on Intel(R) XScale(R) technology to mobile operators and their addressable channels. Under the Collaboration Agreement, Brightpoint will offer turnkey distribution and customized services to mobile operators for Intel's high performance, low power wireless products.
As a part of the agreement, Brightpoint has licensed the Intel(R) Mobile Media Technology program for use in marketing materials and packaging. Intel Mobile Media Technology allows users to share realistic, vivid audio, video, graphics and games on portable and handheld devices by using unique multimedia capabilities and processing techniques from Intel.
"Brightpoint is very pleased to work with Intel on their wireless initiatives," said David Brown, Vice President of Advanced Wireless Services at Brightpoint North America. "Working together, Brightpoint and Intel will bring outstanding products and services to mobile operators allowing them to deliver advanced wireless devices to their subscribers."
"New converged handset devices transform the way people work. Field service workers can get and update work orders on location, and integrate workflows in existing backend infrastructures. Office workers can receive critical information - much more than just SMS - in real time fashion. We are pleased to bring those possibilities into the hands of the end user with Brightpoint's distribution, logistics, and value-added services for handsets based on Intel(R) XScale(R) technology," says John Davies, Vice President and General Manager, Intel Solutions Group.
