FusionOne Connects Mobile Phones to Microsoft Outlook with MightyPhone 2.0 for the BREW Solution

Business Wire, March 14, 2005

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Upgraded Service Pushes Contact and Calendar Info into Mobile Phones Over-the-Air; Turns Simple Phones into Smart Phones

FusionOne, a developer of premium mobile services, has launched MightyPhone 2.0 developed for QUALCOMM's BREW(R) solution. MightyPhone 2.0 is a new version of its mobile organizer service that enables customers to keep their mobile phones up-to-date with address book and calendar information from Microsoft Outlook(R).

Unlike other sync services that require a physical connection between the phone and the PC, MightyPhone 2.0 uses a wireless operator's network to automatically send contact and calendar information to a mobile phone, regardless of location. This gives Outlook users' mobile phones the basic functionality of a PDA, ensuring that they will never be without their full list of contacts, even without access to a computer.

MightyPhone 2.0 introduces a number of key features including but not limited to:

A[micro] -- Fully Automatic Sync (Push sync)

A[micro] Enables customers to make changes to their mobile address
books and calendars directly from Outlook. Correspondingly,
any information that is edited or added to the phone will be
sent to Outlook as well as the MightyPhone Web account.

A[micro] -- Enhanced "Contact Form" in Outlook (Sync contact to phone)

A[micro] Once a customer has signed up for the service, a "Sync" button
will be added to their Outlook's toolbar. They can then select
which contacts they want in their phones with a simple click
in the contact form within Outlook.

A[micro] -- Remote Contact Search (Find "John Smith")

A[micro] Mobile phone users can perform a remote "look up" of contacts
which are in Outlook -- but not currently selected to be in
their phone -- at any time.

A[micro] -- Smart Outlook Calendar (Upcoming appointments and reminders)

A[micro] MightyPhone 2.0 calendar includes a "Today Page" feature that
summarizes all of the tasks for that particular day and
contains a set of reminder alarms for each individual
        responsibility

"The growing dependence on personal information managers (PIMs) such as Outlook somewhat contradicts another trend we're seeing, the rise of the 'mobile professional' -- someone who conducts a majority of his or her business from a cell phone. PDAs and other organizers have attempted to solve this problem, but don't have the worldwide proliferation of the mobile phone," said Rick Onyon, founder and CEO, FusionOne. "MightyPhone 2.0 solves this by bringing the power and convenience of an organizer to the mobile phone. With the ability to sync contacts and calendar information from Outlook to the phone, and vice versa, we are giving our customers the flexibility and portability they need to stay connected at all times."

"MightyPhone 2.0 is a prime example of the sophisticated yet simple business applications that can be built on the BREW solution and make customers' lives easier and more productive," said Tom Grieco, senior director of BREW Developer Relations, QUALCOMM Internet Services. "We are pleased to see FusionOne building on its past successes with the BREW solution and look forward to continued innovations that will further enable wireless connectivity."

QUALCOMM's BREW solution is designed to meet the distinct and varied needs of wireless operators, handset manufacturers, publishers, developers and end users around the world. BREW products and services include: an open, extensible client platform that supports robust system and application software including personalized and branded user interfaces for mass market devices; a J2EE-based, modular distribution system that enables the delivery of content, applications and user interfaces to wireless devices across all air interfaces; a dedicated professional services team that supports the integration of customized implementations; and the wireless industry's first global marketplace to support the monetization of applications and services developed in all programming languages. The BREW ecosystem can make your wireless visions a reality.

Additionally, MightyPhone 2.0 includes an updated BREW client for increased usability as well as new Symbian and UIQ clients.
