Business Wire, March 14, 2005

NEW ORLEANS -- New Lineup of Genuine Accessories by Kyocera(TM) Enhances User Experience of New Kyocera Products for a Variety of Consumer and Business-Driven Applications

Kyocera Wireless Corp., a leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless phones and devices, today announced a host of new Genuine Accessories by Kyocera(TM) designed to significantly enhance the consumer experience using several appealing applications now available on new and current Kyocera wireless phones. Whether a music fan, an avid gamer, an enterprise data user or a voice-centric talker, Kyocera customers now have a variety of easy-to-use options available to enjoy their phones even more.

"The evolution of wireless networks and handset technologies have enabled capabilities far beyond just voice on wireless phones. Handset accessory products must also evolve to allow users to truly enjoy the experience provided by new features such as games, music players and cameras," said Noel Sobelman, accessories business segment director at Kyocera Wireless Corp. "Our diverse new accessories lineup is designed with that user experience in mind, simplifying more complex features and functionality to create a more enjoyable overall wireless experience for our customers."

Kyocera KR1 Router

The Kyocera KR1 Router is a CDMA2000(R) 1x Evolution Data Optimized (EVDO) data router designed for use with any 1xEVDO PC card -- including the Kyocera KPC-650 Passport -- or USB-enabled 1xEVDO handset. The KR1 uses a single high-speed cellular connection to create a low-cost mobile WiFi "hot spot" or ethernet hub for multiple PCs, eliminating the need for high-cost and fixed DSL or cable connections. Ideal for small- and medium-sized businesses, enterprises or household use, the Kyocera KR1 distributes 1xEVDO connectivity from the PC Card or phone to as many as 20 computers via four 10/100 Ethernet cable ports or 802.11b and 802.11g WiFi connections.

Delivering download speeds of up to 2.4 Mbps in EVDO coverage areas and download speeds with bursts of up to 153 kbps on CDMA2000 1xRTT connections outside of EVDO coverage, the KR1 Router delivers high-speed wireless connectivity for the job site, mobile sales team or family at home. The Kyocera KR1 Router also provides additional security controls, 128-bit WEP encryption and an advanced firewall for protection against viruses, hacking and identity theft.

Measuring 21.5cm x 13.5cm x 2.3cm and weighing 453 grams, the KR1 Router includes an easy to use configuration wizard and Web-based device management using Internet Explorer 6, Netscape Navigator 6 and other JAVA(TM)-enabled browsers.

Available to use out-of-the-box with the Kyocera KPC-650 Passport 1xEVDO PC Card, the Kyocera KR1 Router will be available to carriers in Fall 2005.

Kyocera K500 Gamepad

The Kyocera K500 Gamepad provides an incredible phone gaming experience. The robust design elevates phone gaming making it more enjoyable for both the casual and hardcore gamers while driving incremental game download revenues desired by carriers. The Kyocera K500 Gamepad is designed with ease of use and familiarity in mind, resembling controllers currently available for today's most popular gaming consoles. K500's eight-directional keypad adds diagonal control capabilities for a more intuitive user experience. With the K500 Gamepad, the phone slides seamlessly into a direct connect cradle and puts the screen right where the user's hands are, making it easier to fight monsters, fly spaceships or cross jungles.

Co-branded with the Alienware(R) Corporation to leverage its vast expertise and reputation in the gaming industry, the K500 Gamepad complements advances in wireless handsets such as larger and brighter screens, more powerful chipsets and a growing library of more interactive games available for download over BREW(TM) or JAVA.

Measuring 12.8cm x 7.0cm x 4.3cm and weighing 185 grams, the Kyocera K500 Gamepad is compact and light enough to travel in pockets and backpacks for easy access while on the bus, in the train station or waiting in line. Initially compatible with the Kyocera Slider Remix(TM) KX5 wireless handset, the Kyocera K500 Gamepad will be available in Fall 2005.

Kyocera Music Dock

The Kyocera Music Dock literally amplifies the digital music experience for wireless phones with music player functionality, turning the phone into a stereo system for use with any set of high-performance personal speakers or headphones. Small and portable, the Kyocera Music Dock enables a full-environment music experience whether in the office late, at home on the weekend or in a hotel.

For syncing music and data with a PC, the Kyocera Music Dock includes a standard mini-USB connection. When not playing music through the Kyocera Music Dock, the phone automatically detects the computer and changes to data mode. Just drag-and-drop the songs you want and hit the road. It's that easy. The Kyocera Music Dock also doubles as a power cradle, charging the phone's batteries as it pumps out the tunes.
