Eaton Corporation Introduces Two New UPSs for the Essential Protection of Computer and Office Equipment
Business Wire, March 15, 2005
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation (NYSE: ETN) today announced the introduction of the Powerware(R) 3105 and the Powerware 5110, two new uninterruptible power systems (UPSs) designed to protect a wide range of office equipment from common power problems often present in normal utility power.
The Powerware 3105 is designed to protect small office and home office (SOHO) computer and telephone equipment from frequent power problems such as power outages, surges and sags, while the Powerware 5110 provides added protection against these problems, as well as brownout and overvoltage conditions for small to mid-sized business equipment.
The Powerware 3105 and the Powerware 5110 each deliver short-term mobile power and support start-on-battery capability, meaning users can unplug the UPS from utility power, then restart and run it from battery power elsewhere. Featuring eight outlets, four with surge protection and battery backup, and four with surge protection only, the Powerware 3105 and the Powerware 5110 enable users to plug less critical equipment into surge-protection-only outlets to save essential battery power.
Both devices feature an integral network transient protector to safeguard network-connected equipment - such as fax machines, modems or electronic telephones - from "back door" power surges that may come through network or phone wiring. Audible alarms and remote alarm notification allow users to constantly stay informed of power problems and low battery conditions, and service life can be extended on both UPSs with user-replaceable batteries.
"Both the Powerware 3105 and the Powerware 5110 incorporate more than 40 years of Eaton's UPS design experience to provide cost-effective power management, backup power, and power quality for a wide range of office and computer equipment," said Suzanne Burns, vice president and general manager, Eaton Corporation. "With typical power customers experiencing an average of 24 power disturbances each month due to inconsistencies in today's public utility power, Eaton's new Powerware UPSs offer confidence for any small to mid-sized business where reliable power must be provided at an affordable price. "
Designed to support loads from 350-700VA, the Powerware 3105 provides a layer of defense between equipment and erratic power. With a compact design that is smaller than a shoebox, this UPS saves space and easily fits under a desk or may be mounted to the wall, allowing for quick access to all power receptacles.
The Powerware 5110 features a small footprint, and is available in several configurations. Low-power units (350-700 VA) are about the size of a dictionary, with higher-rated models (1000-1500 VA) offered in a sleek tower design that easily fits under a computer monitor or in a rack where it occupies only 2U of space. This UPS delivers consistent, clean output power with automatic voltage regulation (AVR) that does not drain battery life.
